IT'S STILL ALIVE THE CHATBOX IS DEAD BUT IT'S STILL ALIVE kinda Sup all, I am currently avoiding doing a Public Policy Report that I figured out my login info for a site that's been dead for like eight years. If you're curious though, the Alaskan Permanent Fund Dividend is wildly popular with the Alaskan public with 87% of respondents saying they approve of it and want no changes to it. Wow isn't that so cool that you now know that piece of useless information?
But this time not for me! Cobbling together a build for someone I "know". Currently she has about 775 to spend, so, this is about all I can do, but she's going to sell her laptop, which will give her more dosh. But, you know, I figure build one for what she has at the moment. So, thoughts on the build? http://i.imgur.com/GTlHpEY.png Tried to talk her out of the disc drive by the way, I don't see much of a point anymore. They're basically obsolete for PCs now. Oh, and I opted out of the SSD and put the money into the CPU. I'm planning on sticking with this plan even if she gets the extra money, I'd like a second opinion on that as well. OS, keyboard, and mouse aren't factoring into it either. I didn't put fans in, but they're cheap anyway.
Oh god, this topic was started in 2011. It doesn't feel that long ago. How long have I been coming here? 08? I lost my original account after IBM moved domains, so, probably late 07/early 08. That's, almost five/almost six years. Huh, almost a third of my life. <3 5ever
The one I was looking at only had six hours on it. So, I can't buy it as I just made the paypal and I can't put dosh on it. I'll wait around for a week or so and see what pops up.
Yeah, I see two on Ebay just now, one with 21 minutes left at $260. Not sure if I should cop it or not, don't want to impulse buy at 260. The other's at $150 with six days left.
It's like 770. So, fifty or sixty dollars, there's also a cheaper case that I could get, that's about as good, it just doesn't have the same cable management.
And I'm not sue if anyone who still comes here knows about building them, but, just in case. I'd like your opinion on the build. I'm trying to stay around $800 CPU is an AMD 8350Antec Earthwatts 650w PSUGTX 660 GPUGIGABYTE GA-990 MotherboardG-Skill 8gb DDR3 RAMCorsair 400r Case I went with the 660 because the 670 is I think $130 more expensive. If anyone knows a better alternative to the 660, tell me please.
Kinect is tons of fun. Have you ever played Dance Central 3? Great game. But according to a newly discovered patent, the Xbox add-on is also maybe spying on you, which is totally not cool, man. This very big brother-y piece of intellectual property—Content Distribution Regulation by Viewing User—uses Kinect's camera to count the number of people in the room and in some cases, identify who they are. This "consumer detector" will charge you licensing fees based on how many bodies are present, and could even stop playback to collect on you if it detects more humans than you've paid for. Sorry if you have a baby face, because the tech could also check on ages and cut off mature content if the system doesn't think you're old enough. God, Kinect. Such a tattletale! Sony is waking up to a new PlayStation 3 security nightmare after a day in which a brand new, PSN-enabled custom firmware was released for hacked consoles, swiftly followed up by publication of the console's LV0 decryption keys - which some say blows the system wide open. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-ps3-the-final-hack
