A Microsoft representative has confirmed that the upcoming console will continue the 'tradition' of region locking, just as the Xbox and Xbox 360.
Speaking with Digital Trends, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that the upcoming Xbox One console will be region-locked.
And, while this isn't a surprising move, it's still nice to get some kind of "official" confirmation from MS:
�Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale,� A rep from Microsoft confirmed to Digital Trends.
�We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.�
So, there you have it. We still don't know if the PlayStation 4 will follow suit but, as you may know, the PS3 and the PS Vita are not region-locked. Let's hope Sony shares some info about this matter soon too...
