I was going to test to see if I could put an .swf file on IBotmodz to see if it would play. I was uploading it and got an error which told me this file type is not allowed to be uploaded, or something along the lines of that. Whats the reason for it not being allowed to upload?

It's not a reason of "why isn't it allowed", it's because it's not on the allowed list.

I'm sure it's because it can execute code if it can be embedded on the site, so i'd have to ask Peaches if I could add it.

Its not properly treated on IPB 2.3.x. It has many security flaws in it, since it does run the raw SWF which you could embed stuff. On IPB 3 its enabled by default and has tons more security.

Why not just give a link to it?

Its not really a IPB thing, since IPB can't interact with flash. Its based on weather you've upgraded to flash 10 which is a major leap in flash security.
