Im just curious why people dont just get the programming from programs like CS3 or Sony Vegas instead of taking time to make a keygen. Then they could release a free program that is exactly the same and technically not have it be illigal. Theres probably a simple answer, I'm just curious.

Now that I think of it, your right. The problem is many people would be suspicious and think that there might be "hidden" functions in the program.

If its possible, and as long as someone trustworthy released it, I would trust it.

No, that would be illegal, that's why when you click "agree" on the "EULA" (End-User's-Liscense-Agreement) It clearly states, no unauthorized or invalid reproduction of this program is admitted, therfore you are making unathorized "modified" copies. And even if you changes everycopy right symbol and logos to like Ibotmodz logos, and mod names for staff, there is still very much proof it would be photoshop, heck even if you give it an entire new GUI, they would know...

Of course they would know, but if you changed the GUI it would be hard to convict you of anything, there are tons of programs that do the same exact things but have differant UI's.

Making a program that generates serials via. a paramater key, than just random letters/numbers is more difficult than you guys think lol.

To get code to program in a function that generates keys when you ask it to, is kind of hard. Especially since it's never random.

I think he is talking about reverse engineering.

I know its hard to do that, im saying why not bypass that and just basically steal the code, change the UI a little bit, and release for free (of course not like publish it) but just release it here. Idk much about that stuff though, just wondering. ty for all the help.

It would take, alot of work to reverse engineer a program and re-build it even more work then it would take to make a keygen.

Why bump a 2 week topic, if you don't even know what he means? It has no point.
