This Tutorial will teach you what a torrent is, how to download, make and use torrents.

    Ok, lets get started then.

Part 1: What is a Torrent?

BitTorrent is a content distribution protocol that enables efficient software distribution and

peer-to-peer sharing of very large files, such as entire movies and TV shows, by enabling users to serve

as network redistribution points. Rather than having to send a download to each customer requesting it,

the distributor or holder of content sends it to one customer who in turn sends it to other customers who

together share the pieces of the download back and forth until everyone has the complete download.

This makes it possible for the original server to serve many requests for large files without requiring

    immense amounts of bandwidth.

BitTorrent's protocol has been described as a "swarming, scatter and gather" file transfer protocol. It was

written in the Python programming language by Bram Cohen and is distributed freely under an open source license.

Part 2: Downloading and using torrents

The First thing you need to do is download a BitTorrent Client. Some Include UTorrent (My Favorite), BitComet and BitTorrent. Limewire will work too, but I haven't had the best of experiences with it. Now install the program of your choice, and click yes if/when it asks to associate .torrents files with itself.

The Next thing you need to do is to find a site that hosts .torrent files. Some popular ones are Demonoid.com
and The Pirate Bay. (note Demonoid.com is Invite only, PM me for Invites)

Now to Download whatever you want. Go to one of the above sites (be careful with The Pirate Bay, always read the comments to avoid viruses), and search for something you want.

    ex. Posted Image

ok, so now we have our search in, select one that comes up.

CORRECTION: The Pink skull & Crossbones means "trusted"

Now that we have picked the torrent, lets read the comments before we do anything else.
    Posted Image
Uhh oh, looks like no one is seeding (uploading) this one :(

    Posted Image
This one looks a little more promising, the comments are good.

Now to check if anyone is uploading this one
    Posted Image
    Ok, it looks good

Now to download, it is very simple, just look for this...

    END OF PART 2

    Part 3, Using the torrent.
Now that we have the torrent, we need to open it with our program (UTorrent, BitTorrent ex.) It should look like this
    Posted Image
Now double click on the file, and it should open the program automatically.

It should now look like this:

I can't edit my original post, I have to double post.

This post was written up entirely by me, it took me literally 2 days of on and off typing. The quote is the only thing that is not mine.

Although, people who can't search and press a Download button, then double click press "Start", -- Those people are pretty stupid.

Definitely don't use PirateBay. Worst torrent site around. ALL PUBLIC SITES ARE AWFUL. So many viruses.

Torrents=Fail, half the tim ethe are viruses or porn.

Also they take week to download, such as this tutorial said South Park would take abou 2 weeks, and 6 days, waste of time...
I woul'd rather just buy it

(EDIT): Plus the torrent software gives out all downloaders IP, so if someone knows who hosting the torrent, and the are against them, then they can fry your DNS, :(

First thing you said = Depends where you get your torrents.

Second thing you said = No one was seeding at that time, I was dling what someone else who was downloading already had, and he/she was downloading what I already had.

The stuff in your edit: Many of the programs now hide that info.

Ha Melee your whole opinion is flawed. I download at 2.6mb/s on torrents and never had a virus because I use private trackers.

Heres a quick beginners app I just threw together....
    Attached File  toooor.rar   255.33KB   123 downloads
