Updates For The New Ipb3 Site.

I've thought a little. Heres the rundown.

  • All 3rd party referral sites are only allowed to be posted in the spam section. With a fairly strict limit on bumping your own referral topic, in hopes to get more referrals. That means, referral links ONLY in SPAM section. You cannot bump those topics, because they are trying to benefit you. People won't post if they don't care.

  • Bans will be dealt on the 100% warn scale. Except this time your only allotted 5 suspensions, (or 5 blocks). Till a perma ban occurs. It will work as such.

  • Lets say I ban TheMasterSnail for 2 days just because I got mad at him. His warn percent would go up to 20% percent. No matter if I selected a 1 hour ban, or 1 month ban. A ban is a ban and it counts as 20%. If he received 4 more bans and hit 100% the system automatically moves you into the banned group. Where you basically lose all access to that site, including your IP :( However, warns expire every 90 days or 3 months. So TheMasterSnail could go warn less for 3 months and his 25% would drop back down to 0%. Now he could take 5 more bans?. Somewhat understand it? Moderators can "temporary suspend" for as long as they like. However, I put a limit of 1 month on it. Anymore than that and its pushing for a perma. So they will have to talk to me. Of course there's a backdoor to just PERMA ban the guy in the event hes a bot/spammer, I'll get into that later.

  • Reputation System is a default added in IPB3. You are allowed to increase your own Rep. You have a global rep and post rep. The global rep is like your overall EXP in Halo 3. No matter which play list you play in that EXP goes towards that. So all rep goes to your global rep, like global EXP. Now post rep is like play list rep, it is displayed underneath every post and people can plus or negative it. I know some people could go through all my 2105 posts and negative all of them, so I put a negative limit of 5 negatives per day, but unlimited positives.

  • AJAX and newer browsers. IPB 3 is built with CSS 3 and PHP 5 in mind. All new features are used excellently. Due to this support for Firefox 2 and older (due to its behind in javascript) and IE 5 and 6 (Its overall crappiness) will not be helped. Your browser if using one of those will automatically be FORCED to use the lo-fi version. Which is all text, no ajax and extremely boring. Its basically a small mobile phone version. This will urge our community to update to either Firefox 3 or IE 8. I'd perfer you to upgrade to Firefox, but I can't change everyones mind.

  • Groups & Forums. Groups will stay the same currently. The way to get into VIP however will change a lot. VIP status will be mainly determined on your Reputation level at the global level. This will prevent spamming and force users to make useful posts as someone could just negative their bad posts and make them one step further away from VIP. Also VIP status can be taken. Say you get the 200 postive rep and someone negatives you. You go down to 199, and bye bye VIP. Sorry. Forums have been reworked. Main addition is the adding of Gamesave section and Trade/Buy/Sell section. Progress on those sections are coming along.

  • Staff. We are not changing anything on the move, or in the first few weeks. Instead were going to become friends, and act more as one group instead of 10 different entity's.

Were looking at the first week of January for the release.

I think the VIP's rep should be their post count, ex.

Fatal Error has 917 posts, so should I start up with +917 rep?

I think might be a good start or something?

EDIT: I have had a 10% warn since August, when is it going to be revoked?

I was warned in october, but it says that was removed, and even then it was over 3 months ago, so wtf?

I think we need a better VIP to go with this IPB 3.

just putting that out there.

That was one of our little projects. It mainly focuses on content that is hard to get unless you know people. So VIP will be more strict.

And maybe get some custom programs that aren't viruses!

Wow that pisses me off, i stopped downloading from this site because of our staff.

with mastersnail being gone, i think you should promote Smokie to sub-admin. ;)

I like the rep idea to get to VIP. I think we should go with that.

But I also think that we should allow people to buy VIP for like 10 dollars a year.

And all Topics in the VIP section should have to be approved by staff first. Thats my idea.

We need better VIP stuff.

It has gotten ALOT better, but we can still do a lot more.

Staff moderation for new topics has been marked for VIP on IPB 3.

New replies though are not monitored. With doing this, people need to check the moderation post feed a lot. To make sure topics don't sit there for hours.
