i installed fable 2 onto my hard drive the other day and just now i was taking a look through the hard drive for it and i found it, its got about 43 files which arent in any type of container, no live/CON/map or pirs markers...does this mean we can mod fable 2 completely? also it has a single isolated file which is a CON file, it is smaller than the others and doesnt contain much info, is it possible to mod installed games? or even just edit a file so you no longer need the disc to play it?

hmm...just a thought but there is a file in here which says "this is an installed game, please insert disc to play it" or something like that in there, so do you think there is some way that we could remove or edit this file so we dont need the disc to run the game? its a CON file so i dunno...

dont think so. when you install a game to your hdd it doesnt put all the infor form the disc on.

The only thing i could think of is to boot up the game and after your 360 reads that the disk is in the tray. Have your 360 open and take the disk out kinda like hotswaping and you could use the disk in another system, like for lan parties.

The only thing the disc is needed in for, is to check that it's the correct disc. Once you start the game, you can open your DVD drive and take the game out. By opening your dvd drive, I mean disassembling like hotswapping. Once you do that, you cannot go to the dash or you have to start back form step 1.. I'll check out these 'con files' and see what I can do.

No it dose not. you were talking to me when i tryed it. you also tryed it and it didnt work. why would you ask this if you know the answer?

Here sum FAQ

 

#1 the Con headder is Keyvault lock ;)

 

#2 Ms add another RSA Algorithem into the system for install games and ? Go figure its not a container file ;)

 

#3 The Xbox Dont check the xex for the game it checks the ss.bin ;)

 

#4 To Ever Mod the installed games is to mod the firmware 2 mod the disk its self 3 rip to Hdd and use the retail disk done ;)

Can you mod an XEX to mod Halo 3 like a dev kit, make modded maps, shove it on a stealthed disc, and install thta to play mods?

no, the XEX file's signatures are still checked.

 

How do you then run your modded/custom XEX without a demo/dev kit? I might not be 100% right, but I believe you need either a demo or dev kit to run custom XEX's.

They're not hard-impossible to sort out. They're raw game data that has a very simple, yet efficient structure.
