After someone had asked about how much space youtube requires to hold all their videos I did some searching and found out the following.

Note: These facts are not mine therefore I do not know if they are correct. They are also 2 years old therefore out of date, but give you a rough idea.

 

 

 

• Over 6.1 million videos
  
• YouTube videos take up an estimated 45 terabytes of storage
  
• Requires several million dollarsâ worth of bandwidth a month to transmit
  
• 70% of YouTubeâs registered users are American and roughly half are under 20 years of age
  
• almost 70% of the online population has watched online video and the average consumer watches 73 minutes of online video a month.
  
• YouTube has grown from roughly 58,000 monthly visitors in August of last year to more than 20 million today

I was a bit disappointed with the fact that the storage that was required was only 45TB, I wanted it to be in the Petabytes.

 

But I was extremely shocked with the fact that it need 7mill a month. I was expecting a high amount, like 100 thousand but not 7million.

it could have gotten 5 times bigger because its popularity is growing each day.
