Decatur Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 So yeah, I was talkin to a real good friend today and he said he had to buy a new 360 cause problems with his old one, so I asked him whats he doin with it? He said it's gathering dust, and I jokingly said, I'll take it! Turns out, he took me seriously, and said I'll cut you a great deal, 60 bucks for the system and a HDD.(20gb) So heres the catch he told me a couple problems.Overheats easilyAnd gets 2 red ringsAnyone know any quick fixes/fixes for these?
Curtis Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Hmmm... Take it apart, blow all the dust out. That should be a temporary fix.
iBotPeaches Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I think an X Clamp mod would solve that because after a few more overheats that video encoder junk chip will throw that E 74 error.
Korupt Data Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Keep the system open'd up and make sure it gets alot of air flow.
Decatur Posted November 18, 2008 Author Report Posted November 18, 2008 Okay, I have every intention of flashing this second box, what does 'Xclamp' mean?
Pargy Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Yup the x-clamp fix will fix that if just cleaning it out doesnt
Decatur Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 Anyone have experience with flashing a drive, OTHER than xpargas?
Dark Slipstream Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 2 Red Rings is just caused by overheating. If it has a warranty, just purposely overheat it with towels, and send it to Microsoft for a new one LOL.
Decatur Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 Pretty sure this box is roughly 2 years into warrenty so I want to RRoD it so I have time to save up for sata card + other things needed.
blacklabelfosho Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 open up the 360. pull out the motherboard.on the bottom there will be two big fking X's. pop them off... be very careful. then reveal the chips underneath, there should be three, they are shiny. clean them off and then put the clamps back on. re assemble w/o the Disk tray attached. turn it on, should get 2 red lights.then turn off, fully reassemble then turn on one more time. should work perfectly xclamp fix in short hand... there are many videos on youtube about it... its really simple
