Dark Slipstream Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I know this may not look so good if someone wanders to the bottom of the site, but we should consider doing a 'Member Wipe'. We should start with stuff like, Delete Accounts: Inactive August 30th and Earlier. Then we can see who is left, and if needed we can clear members with 0 posts AND inactiveness within 2+ months. This way the site has active, remaining members, and if someone looks at the member list, we aren't full of 3+ Month old users that haven't signed on since then. I know it makes iBotModz look active, but since it's not right now, we really need to clear up that list. And at least if we clean up members who leech, we can make them become active by disabling or removing their account. I want to know opinions on this matter, I will open a poll to have users vote. Please vote wisely, I want this to be as serious as possible. - If you vote, please leave a comment, and if it's immature, it'll be removed. Have a nice day.
Decatur Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I think this could be a good idea, but I think it needs more factors.
Random1225 Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I like the idea but I think maybe it needs more thought for example some people leave for a while and then come back. I do think that people with 0 posts and haven't signed in several months should be removed but you get the point.
StevenSVE♥ Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 think of the consequences. if we wipe clean our inactive members, then ppl will see this site.... well...non-pop..ular? idk, lol then we'll lose our goal to go back to 8000 members in the past and that was our highest member gainage. I think disabling them is good.
iBotPeaches Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 The move to IPB 3 will send emails requiring you to sign in to change those new settings in IPB 3. If not within 2 weeks your account will turn inactive. Then it will become a "inactive account" which is an account on the "amount of accounts in stats" however the account doesn't really exist until they confirm an email.
Dark Slipstream Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 Ah, so basically all inactive members will be removed this way. This seems much more effecient. Topic Question Answered, Topic Closed.
iBotPeaches Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 To follow up. This method of forcing emails will not be used in first 5 days. I want all members who actually visit to be able just to sign into IPB 3. Then I will send out the email's and enable inactivity for other accounts. So active members won't have to go through that trouble.
