360 can't play any discs

when i put a game in my 360 it will just read a bit then say open tray, after a while of opening and closing it might start to read, but still can't play any cod 4 multiplayer maps, it takes like 30 minutes to get to read, any help ?

I think you need to clean the disc tray.

 

As well spray 'Can of Air' or 'CO2 Can' inside the xbox (just air), to clean it.

If that doesn't work, try cleaning the discs at a store that will clean them for you.

 

If that STILL doesn't work, contact microsoft and try from there.

If that maps take that long to load reset your xbox cache.

 

Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

When my box stopped reading discs, it would hummm when I put a disc in, than say unreadable disc.

 

So me, being the brute I am, smacked my box around a little bit, worked for a week, than completely died.

 

Had to contact xbox.

also once i get it working it works until i turn it off, then it takes like 10-30 minutes to read the discs again. But once it reads one it will usually read the others (until i turn it off) but i still can't play cod 4

 

and i plan on buying a can of air

Mine Wont read halo 3 the first time i put it in ever but it reads it the second time i put it in, and sometimes my disk tray wont open at all O___o. but i just deal with it cuz i dont wanna send it in

Dont do that, you can damge the laser, thats how my friend @#%$ed up his drive

 

What i reccomend if you cant if it still does it and its still under warrenty is give it the RROD

 

Wrap it in a Blanket and leave it on for a while, Then send it in to MS

Can of air won't damage anything.

 

You need to spray at a decent range to just get the dust from the inside blown loose / off.

I've done it once, it works.

 

Peaches thing is also a good idea.

I can top that.

 

When my Xbox would'nt read disc it would say please put this disc in an xbox 360 console.

 

It take me along time to play a game and Microsoft didn't know what was going on.

 

Then I took it a part for fun bout,hmm a week back.

 

I got a new one =] awhile ago.

 

And the one befor that my house got hit by lighting and fried everything electrical on it.

 

I have bad luck with xboxes.

Call microsoft, if they say you have to pay give your xbox the RRoD so its free

and it can play DVDs not 360 games though

Towel Wrap It, leave it running for a LONG time, close all doors, keep all air from circulating, put a humidifier in the room and check in every 2 hours for RRoD.

Ive talked Microsoft into giving me a free controller and a mic, so i would worry. And i have had my 360 fixed 5 times now, and they have given me 2 new 360s in place of mine due to them not being able to fix mine. My friend also sent his 360 to Microsoft in broken pieces and got a new one in return so as long as you have the 3 red rings they will fix it.

My friend sent his in without rrod and they sent it back, you can easilty give you xbox rrod just wrap it in a blanket and leave it on for a couple hours

 

i doubt they would do anything about the xbox original mics but you can try
