iBotPeaches Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 About the down time today.... HostMonster (my host) claimed the files I held in /downloads/ were copyrighted and not allowedto be distributed accross the internet. I listened and immediatly deleted the folder. Howeverthat puts quite a damper on our file sharing. I'm investing into another web storage servermuch like rapidshare except it will be ibmstorage.com I will just use that to upload file and get those downloads back up and running. We only went offline because someone out there linkedto a 10mb file and we got 554 downloads in under a hour. A spike to bandwidth. Thanks for understanding, IPB3 and ibmstorage.com will be up around Christmas with all the newfeatures. If you know of a host that allows storing files please let me know. I am stilllooking. Peaches

Dark Slipstream Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) I'll help you find a storage hosting website. Should be relatively easy. EDIT: LOL, use skydrive.live.com (5GB Online [FREE]) I'm pretty sure you can. I'll test it. Edited October 27, 2008 by Dark Slipstream
fattwam Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 anything is aloud on my server if you want i can hook you up with your own cpanel and domain and unlimited bandwidth and space
iBotPeaches Posted October 27, 2008 Author Report Posted October 27, 2008 Thanks twam. I'll buy the domain, then can that route into a cPanel and FTP? I don't even need cPanel, or mySQL. Just to host about 20 gigs of files.

diet Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 the hosting is all set up, im just waiting for peach with the domain Mind me asking, what is really the bandwidth cap and hard space cap. As you don't have a magical hard drive or a enchanted ISP. -diet
SmokiestGrunl Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Mind me asking, what is really the bandwidth cap and hard space cap. As you don't have a magical hard drive or a enchanted ISP. -diet I think it actually is unlimited, he has his contacts.
iBotPeaches Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 I think it actually is unlimited, he has his contacts. Nothing really unlimited. I assume its a 1TB drive, no one really uses all of it, so you say Unlimited. Your hosting company would probably drop you if you would use all 1TB
diet Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 I think it actually is unlimited, he has his contacts. No, I know what I'm talking about here. There is no such thing as unlimited. SmokiestGrunl, when you find me a hard drive that has unlimited disk space on it then you can call me. Nothing really unlimited. I assume its a 1TB drive, no one really uses all of it, so you say Unlimited. Your hosting company would probably drop you if you would use all 1TB I doubt he has a 1TB hard drive too. I assume he is using a Dedicated Server from his host provider, IdeaStack. If he is then he prolly has anywhere from a 160GB - 500GB hard drive. That host is really cheap on everything they offer, so I would imagine that there dedicated servers come cheap too, which they do if your wondering. Providers say unlimited because they think that the customers will never reach set limit. So say they have 1TB split up between 100 customers all with marked with unlimited space. They don't expect for all 100 customers to go above say 2-10GBs or around there. It's called overselling, and is frowned upon by alot of great host providers. Hosts such as BlueHost, HostMonster, Site5, and HostGator oversell. Start using too much space and you'll get some emails. Same goes for bandwidth. Remember, unmetered is not the same as unlimited. Also, Peaches your host provider would suspend you way before you got near 1TB of disk space. That could be one of the reasons for why you got those emails. -diet
