iBotPeaches Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Yes we are back. Our site was being DDOS by some people. Simple as that. Site5 (my hoster) could not keep up with the attacks so I left them. I moved hosts to someone else who takes DDOS attacks more seriously towards the DDOSer and will recover from them faster. The downtime should stop and we should continue to improve. Another update we don't support immature screenshots/videos, and everyone knows exactly what I'm talking about. If you post one, brag about one. You will be banned. This is giving modders a bad name and iBotModz doesn't want to be the name ontop of it. We will still however give you all the tutorials to be able to mod what you want on Halo 3. Every since we moved to the new IPB Board all links and images were destroyed and not converted properly. If theres a post or anything you would like the link or image about. Send me a PM or just "bump" the post and reply saying "links don't work" or whatever. I will or a staff will get the link or image or download link fixed. Welcome to the new iBotModz Staff
sillybob123 Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Thank God! maybe this update will stop the freaks that ddos the site dead in there tracks ermm i was wondering if someone ddos's a site with the ip address what happens if you place the site on a dynamic ip address or one that always changes would that stop them?
fattwam Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 yes like peach was saying now when people DDOS us we can more and better action to make sure that it wont happen again
CubanLegend Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Thank God! maybe this update will stop the freaks that ddos the site dead in there tracks ermm i was wondering if someone ddos's a site with the ip address what happens if you place the site on a dynamic ip address or one that always changes would that stop them??? I don't think the site could benefit from a dynamic IP, as it would be better off on a dedicated box with a static IP for maintenance and continuity purposes.
Dark Slipstream Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 This is great to hear. I hope that they take immediate and fourthcoming action towards the DDoS'ers and stop them completely. Btw, may I ask who the new hoster is? Site5 is still in the affiliates...
Korupt Data Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Maybe finally we can enjoy the site without 2 day downtime - Bless this mess
fattwam Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 lol what a noobanyways our new host actually does things about us getting ddos'ed
CubanLegend Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Like what? Cal the feds on the multiple DDosing IP's? XD Edited July 23, 2008 by CubanLegend
Dark Slipstream Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Like what? Cal the feds on the multiple DDosing IP's? XD People can trace the ddos, it's easy if u actually try.
fattwam Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 yes but since we have not been ddos'ed on this new host we are not certain of what they exactly do in this type of situation
Dark Slipstream Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 yes but since we have not been ddos'ed on this new host we are not certain of what they exactly do in this type of situation So.. we hope NOT to get DDoS'ed, but at the same time, hope we do so that the perpetraters get caught! It all makes sense now..
CubanLegend Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 thing is, when you get Ddossed it could be coming from 200-2000 + possible zombies. Try to track all that down to the single alpha pulling the strings... Is what im saying. A needle in a haystack. Or are there residual tracks and or protocols that can be used in this day and age of technology that can track the source of a DDos?

When you DDoS, it connects with your original IP as well, so it's process of elimination. People nowadays can easily filter out a massive number of IP's. This website probably catches the first IP of everyone who visits, and monitors their connection. They probably get tracked after about 5 connections...lol
Curtis Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 (edited) I for one am sick of DDos. Its plain stupid. Almost anyone can do it now. Ruins Halo, Ruins ibotmodz. Sad really. Great update. fattwam Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 So.. we hope NOT to get DDoS'ed, but at the same time, hope we do so that the perpetraters get caught! It all makes sense now.. well we hope just not to get ddos'ed, but if we do we are now more protected

Is what im saying. and any experienced bruteforcer or Ddosser , even some script kiddies can manage a way to not get caught.
zZDarkLegacyZz Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Im so happy i can finally get back on ibotmodz so does this mean we cant get ddos'ed anymore? or we just recover faster?
fattwam Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 it is possiblle to still get ddos'ed but we have a lot more protection and will recover faster and unlike our other host that didnt do much about us getting ddos this new host takes it much more seriously
