REDSTAR 105 Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 I was talking with tyler iz ill earlier today and he showed me and blacklabelfosho how he got fileshare banned, but not only that, he also got matchmaking banned. Why is this important? Its because if you mod, bungie might do the same to you, and just like tyler, bungie wont give you a warning. But, i would still mod, just dont release any of your mods. EDIT: Guys, also tyler didnt get just his account banned, he also got consle banned. Also, if a non-server con resigner gets leaked, we have to spread it around as fast as we can, so there would be way to many modders that bungie just can't ban them.
miinaturvat Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks for the 'heads up' When I'm able to mod, I'll be keeping it private and probably offline.
SotG Caboose Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 ya same here ill do all my mods on a offline acount
LXV Grizzly Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Dont just keep all your modded maps. If everyone who could mod did that then where would we be, what fun are mods if you cant play them, its just modding to say you can mod, its stupid. If you dont want to be banned then just put them on your share for like 1 hour, or if you dont even want to do that than just share them in customs. Just dont post them in the bungie forums and you (if you play it smart) wont get banned. for example mxrider.

That is pointless and will always come back around to ban you.
GhettoYeti32 Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Bungies so fricken gay sometimes i swear
Dark Slipstream Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 change the author name in hex that only works to fool the halo community. Bungie can still find out the real author, and ban him, not the guy with the name on the mod. Because if that were true i could get every modded map xsata'd, hex edit the names to a famous modder, and re release. Now they are all in his name. Then they look for original author (can be found, i know where it is) and ban that person. Note: The Original author (line xxxxxxxx) cannot be switched, it will make the map unusable/invalid/unplayable or not load whatsoever, ive tried EDIT: Good idea, i guess ill still have to keep mine private from now on, instead of giving some away to trusted people. Because thats still releasing.
T3A guy Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 u know u can change the author, just do tht lol
infamouslink Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Well if you couldn't change the author name, you could just download a map from some one's fileshare and mod that.. So thats probably not why he got banned from matchmaking.
illusive Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 ya redstar i was there in your party they should release the resigner cause bungies gonna keep banning all the modders that would be gay

LXV Grizzly Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 IF bungie was really planning on banning all the modders who make maps like you claim, then why havent all the famous ones been banned? To me it doesnt seem like there banning to many people lately
Nuklear♥ Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Just edit your author name out to your alias, etc.
Lux Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Just edit your author name out to your alias, etc.Tisk tisk, ignorance....

Crosseyes Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I think sharing mods virally in customs would be a good idea. Much better than fileshare sharing. 1. You don't get banned. 2. Since it's viral, only the better mods make it through the public filter. This will encourage better mods to be made.
Obito Kajuo Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Why don't you just save your maps offline, because when you save things offline the author name doesn't appear.
austinbomber Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 bungie is getting out of hand they should know that they made these mistakes and shouldnt ban no one because they know what will happen

infamouslink Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Did he have them on his fileshare when he was banned? Because you can change the author..Completely.
Crosseyes Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Ehh, Bungie's stated that only people with modded files in their fileshares/people who start topics spreading modded files are up for ban. Your name stamped on a file isn't enough for blacklisting. Virally spreading mods should be, for now, legit.
armageddonsnipe Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 simply , put it on your fileshare, switch console and account , than retrieve , put in in a fake's account file share, remove it from previous, and @#%$ bungie hard
