iBotPeaches Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 Quite alot of constant running anti-virus programs. Have you ever tried getting rid of sum? Too many constantly running virus scanners can slow down your computer.
subs_55 Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 get rid of some of em, maybe leave nod and put in kaspersky. it is the best from what i have experienced. my family runs a computer repair store so ive had expericence with all those. but kaspersky could findthings that nortan couldnt.
Curtis Posted June 12, 2008 Report Posted June 12, 2008 i think i have a trojan and it is slowing my pc down i have read the post by ibotpeachs but i just cant be that my pc uses nod32,ad-watch,ad-aware,pest-pertrol and zone alarm but it has not got rid of it Whoa man. Stick with one or two. Sounds like the trojan is stopping the anti viruses from detecting it. Try your computer in safe mode. Tell me what it does. Then download System Mechanic. ITs amazing and it will tell you what's slowing it down. Look at: www.iolo.com To find System Mechanic.
Dark Slipstream Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Zone Alarm, NOD32 and all the other programs you listed ALL slow your PC down. The fact that you can access the internet with all of those is a miracle in itself. lol. Remove them all. Download AVG, Install it and run a Full System Scan (DON'T TOUCH PC UNTIL IT'S DONE).If that doesn't find anything try these: Kaspersky FREE Online Scannerhttp://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partne ... 3316322531 TrendMicro FREE Online Scannerhttp://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Panda FREE Online Scanner (Active Scan 2.0)http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/ ... ctivescan/ After installing/running all of the programs/online scanners above goto:Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup After it loads check every box then click OK, and click Yes. Restart, after it's done restarting run Disk Defragmenter from:Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter Your PC should be as good as new. *Keep AVG 8.0, its a very good anti-virus for free.
SmokiestGrunl Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I think is just the fact that you got too many anti-malware programs on your computer. I once installed 32 anti-malware programs I then said my computer was an inpenatrable fortress, and thats because it was. I couldn't even move the mouse. It took me a full day to get rid of them all.
