I am confused

Out of complete curiosity I decided to see how many videos youtube could hold.

 

There is a 11 digit,letter and symbol code at the end of a youtube video that is different for every video.

 

There are 26 letters in the alphabet.

 

But the code also is case sensitive so thats another 26.

 

There are 10 numbers (1,2....9,0).

 

There is a hyphen (-) that is also used in this code.

 

So that is 63 different things that can be put in one part of the code.

 

63 x 11 = 693

 

So there are 693 different combinations.

 

So only 693 videos can be uploaded using this style of code.

 

So I don't know how there are so many videos on youtube. Do they add a new collum every time they run out of spots?

 

If they do add a new collum every time (assuming they started with only one collum) it means there is already over 2billion (2,514,758,463) videos on youtube.

 

If anyone could shed some light on my delima it would be helpful.

yep.just the wrong math done.

26*5+25*5.. and so on...

 

using the alphabet only lowercase letters with only five spots(26*5+25*5.. and so on...) to out letters would eqaul up to over than 1000 different combinations. adding in symbols. capitals and symbol code would be... a big god dam number haha.
