my first photoshop sig, need advice (pic edited)

ok this is my first sig using photoshop, i decided to give up on getting cs3 so i got cs2. this took me about half an hour and is in no way finished. i would like to see if i could get some advice on what to do next. also let me know what you think of it.

 

EDIT:i have no idea why it is huge. if you know how to fix it please tell me. also it might be a bit cut off because of its size.

 

EDIT: ignore the above edit, i fixed the problem and along wiht it i changed some other little things.

Well first i suggest making sonic smaller.

 

but i think you should read some photoshop tutorials to let you know PS(photoshop) better.

Lol, thats you're first? I've been trying for along time and cant do that good. I don't know how everyone gets those fancy backrounds and stuff. Like this one:

Do they just color it in with some fancy brushes? Hmm, I wouldn't know how to do that.

dont worry man ive used other programs before that work like ps ( corel draw for example) and ive done other things with cs3 for a few weeks in my old photography cource in grades 7. but i had to move and i couldnt finish it. so in other words im not a complete newbie XP

i just recently found how to change the pixels is was like 1117x 200 or something, so yeah a bit off, when im done ill post it
