nielsss Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Forum Rules prohibit the discussion of XBox hardware or software modifications/hacks. This includes modified maps. Anyone who posts a modified map will be banned. A modified map is one that requires modifications to XBox hardware or software in order to create. We do not care if you did not create it. You will be banned for posting the map regardless of its author. Please note that this does not include glitches such as:* Interlocking objects* Objects pushed through walls or the floor* "Getting out" of the map or objects placed outside invisible walls* The infinite money glitch* Any glitch that can be accomplished by any player playing on an unmodified XBox Please PM any moderator if you have further questions, or respond in this thread and we will answer your questions in due course. Do not respond in this thread with advertisements or off-topic discussion. FAQ (Blue questions by bungie.net members, red answer by bungie.net moderator Posted by: SpacelessgeorgeMy question is who is it really hurting>?Not me ..or anyone..did it make you bleed?no....its not hurting anyone..so lighting up..be happy relax Microsoft and Bungie do not condone the discussion of modifying their console hardware or software. For that reason, we moderators have been asked to prohibit modification discussions.Let me ask you this -- who is it hurting for you to not be able to discuss modified content here? Nobody. Since Bungie makes the rules about what can be discussed on its own site, you have no room to complain. Posted by: WazillaDo people still get banned for obtaining these files from people's file shares? Is it a bannable offense just having them on the HDD? No, but any attempt to bring them into Matchmaking will obviously result in a massive ban on you and your XBox 360. Posted by: SpoonHunter420when you say "Post" do you mean simply uploading it to our file share or do you mean actually starting a thread after you upload it into your file share? can we get banned for uploading it into our fileshare without starting a topic about it afterwards so it doesnt get advertised? am i making any sense? i hope so... I mean actually starting a thread on the public forums. Simply having the map in your fileshare is not something that the Bungie.net moderators are concerned with at this time.Posted by: TKW Pure OwnageOk so it's safe to have these, but if you bring them online, you're banned? At this time, bans for modified maps are only for attempting to bring them into Matchmaking. Bungie has not yet prohibited their use in custom games over XBox Live, although they may do so at some point in the future. Please feel free to send a Private Message ("PM") to any forum admin or moderator with any further questions. Source: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=20979137
Valid Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Ok that clears up some things, but it doesn't sound that bad, i all ready don't even put the maps on my fileshare, and you dont even get in trouble for that. That would suck if there ever came a tme that we couldn't play them online in custum games though.
jordandipaolo Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 not that bad we still play custom but are you allowed to make new mods?
fattwam Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 do you know how many people have these modz bungie would have to do MASSIVE bannings to stop it and thats a somewhat big part of their online community, what they would probably do if they could would be to refresh everyones fileshare then ban anyone who starts and go from their
Obito Kajuo Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 DON'T GIVE GIVE BUNGIE ANY IDEAS LIKE THAT! THEY MAY ACTUALLY DO IT!
TheMasterSnail Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 loll stupid bungie its not hurting anyone i say let us mod in custom without ban and we can all get on with our lives,,,
nielsss Posted May 22, 2008 Author Report Posted May 22, 2008 I was talking to shadow on xbl yeterday and I asked him why dont you just release the con signer? He had a few valid reasons why; 1. A con signer will allow people to mod any Live conatainer meaning that they can edit their gamertag name to some racist term or swear word, it will also allow you to edit your ammount of MS points making the market place free (that would be seriously bad for ms) 2. With a con signer you have the ability to sign halo 3 screenshots, you could upload any image... 3. He hates the community (i dont think that's a valid enough answer but w/e) Uh thats all i can remember..
XXlMODDERlXX Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 like i said before bungie is scared of modders bringing down halo 3 and there scared of the fact that people can figure out ways of there thinking so they go and bann us..
Obito Kajuo Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 like i said before bungie is scared of modders bringing down halo 3 and there scared of the fact that people can figure out ways of there thinking so they go and bann us..Well if they think that... Then they are idiots... because mods are the reason why most people play the game... So if they stop modding, it will be them bringing themselfs down. In other words, Bungie is in a no win siduation.
Curtis Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 I actually am against modding halo 3 at the moment. Its already turned the game into a mess.

Snowmon333♥ Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Same here, so just don't make posts you can still have it on fileshare right ?
kevbrown713 Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 i learned that the hard way - - right after i hit submit i saw the pinned topic concerning modded maps - - seven day ban - - ouch
Obito Kajuo Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 Man, Bungie is getting a little to freaked out from mods. Mods aren't ruining Halo, to tell you the truth mods actually help Halo see it's true potential. The only mods Bungie should only be concened about is mods in matchmaking(and in some cases pictures, the inapproperate ones.), but other then that those of us making mods aren't hurting anyone. (Bungie really needs to learn the saying," If you can't beat um, join um." because as of now, they can fight modding all they want, but they will never win.) Who else agrees with me?
