daKHAOSguy Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 hey does any1 have or know what the operating system for the xbox 360 is thank you for the help
fattwam Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 its a Microsoft build its not like XP or anything lol But for software - DashboardThe Xbox 360 dashboard. Showing the new five blades The Xbox 360's graphical user interface GUI is the Xbox 360 Dashboard; a tabbed interface that features five "Blades" (formerly four blades), and was designed by AKQA. It can be launched automatically when the console boots up without a disc, or when the disc tray is ejected. However, the user may choose to launch a game automatically if a disc is inserted. A simplified version of it can also be accessed at any time via the Xbox Guide button on the gamepad. This simplified version shows the user's gamercard, Xbox Live messages and friends list. It also allows for personal and music settings, in addition to voice or video chats, or returning to the primary Dashboard from the game. Since the console's release, Microsoft has released several updates for the Dashboard software. These updates have included adding new features to the console, enhancing Xbox Live functionality and multimedia playback cabilities, adding compatibility for new accessories, and fixing bugs in the software. The latest Dashboard update, revision 2.0.6690, was made available on April 19, 2008. Microsoft XNA Microsoft XNA is a set of tools and technologies that includes XNA Studio, which provides versions of key production tools such as asset management, defect tracking, project automation, and work lists. These tools are designed to work together to automate common development tasks and present interfaces tailored to the different functions within the team. Microsoft XNA also includes other components such as the XNA Framework and XNA Build. Anyone can develop a game using XNA Game Studio Express, an IDE for homebrew developers. Currently at version 2.0. Originally XNA was released in beta form on August 30, 2006. A second, near feature complete beta version was released on November 1, 2006. The final feature complete version, 1.0, was released on December 11, 2006. For a US$99/GḄ̉65 yearly subscription fee users can join a "creators club" which lets them transport code onto their 360 and share their content with others. In the UK, there is also a 4 month subscription to the "Creators [sic] Club" which costs ̣̉30 GBP. courtesy of wikipedia

Dark Master Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 Lets not spam shall we? The OS from a Xbox would be pointless anywhere else. The OS from a Xbox is so meticulously designed to work with every part in a Xbox, so having it anywhere else would be pointless, the only other place it could go is another Xbox which already has it. And no, you cannot run the Xbox 360 OS on your computer.

A dev_kit links a 360 OS with your computer so you may debug it live, like the Halo Cache Editor was on the xbox 1 modded dashboard. A developers xbox is the key, it doesn't actually run the stuff on a computer, but it links them together. So your transferring 360 encoded files, and the dev_kit piece converts it into computer reading technology, for live debugging. So if that anwsers.
HaloGen713 Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 couldnt you just make an ISO/DMG of the harddrive through Xsata Or Xport, and then just image a new hard drive to be the same?
TheEazyB Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 360 OS would be stored in your NAND. a Dev OS just allows some remote access, it still would be useless outside of a devkit.
HaloGen713 Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 mmhmm...could you reformat an xbox hard drive to use it as like an external?
SmokiestGrunl Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 You need to unlock it but yes its possibly. The xbox hdd is just like a normal hdd.
HaloGen713 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 then if you reattach it with say XP on it, could you technically have a new computer? (this wouldnt be worth it unless you have the elite)
TheEazyB Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 if you get an adaper for the hard drive to connect to your computer and you format in a computer filesystem, yes it will be functional as an external drive. but be warned : you cannot convert it back to the xbox format for the 360 unless you have a Dev Kit.
HaloGen713 Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 i see, maybe when they come out with the XBox 720 lol
sillybob123 Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 is it me or does he spam ALOT ^ as for the OS easyB seems to be right i would like to get a dev kit in order to do this etc... but why do you want the os ???
Esjay Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 He could want the OS to try and create an emulator.
iBotPeaches Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 He could want the OS to try and create an emulator. Yeah, but It will be around 20 years because another system or computer could run 360. I don't understand even how you make emulators, but I'm guessing since normal xbox doesn't have one, that 360 would take awhile.
