blacklabelfosho Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 2 12's and a 600w amp are good, just you need to make sure you get good subs.u could have a 32' subwoofer but it could still suck... make sure your subs and amp are the same brand. no my 6'9 are run off of my stereo amp two subs on the right are daisey chained to the right amp. and the two subs on the left are daisey chained to the left amp. then both amps are run into my capacitor, which is then run into my 1 gauge welding wire. i have 8 ohm speakers right now, and the more electricity going to the subs is not always the best thing....too much and you blow your subs. we had a 18' kicker comp, running on 2500w max, 4 ohm, ran it into a 3000w amp, turned the amp up halfway, and popped the sub in 30 seconds. was the loudest thing i ever heard, but then later found out that that amp was rated for 3000w subs, but only ran in parallel. just... if u want to do this right. buy a set of subs/speakers/box/wiring kitthen go to a well known speaker place, and ask them about how you should install it,and whether or not your alternator can handle what your trying to put in. a lot of kids just go out, find the best deal they can on subs, and kind of just slowly piece together their sound systemyes, they get a louder system, but if they woulda waited and spent maybe 150 dollars extra/// they could have made thier system 10x as loud as what crap they found at pawn shops and stuff
Curtis Posted April 11, 2008 Author Report Posted April 11, 2008 I know for a fact that the size of the speakers don't matter. My tiny little 10 almost pounds as hard as my friends 2 12's. I know that my little 10 is being over-powered and his are underpowered. My plan is to first go get subs and a matching box for them. You told me to get the amp after the subs. I'm thinking Clarion. . So im guessing that 4ohm is your best bet? I'm scared of my alternator blowing. I know I made my batery go stone dead once already. But... How exactly do i wire something like this? I'm guessing everything comes back to the amp? And i know the amp goes into the stero deck so you can control the volume (durr). Where could i find a wiring diagram?
blacklabelfosho Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 my stereo and my tweeters and my 6'9 are all clarion.great product.i haven't blown them out and ive had em 3 years now. subs in the back are from rockford fosgate, but they are like the really cheap subs that they offer.i extremely recommend clarion for door speakers and tweetsbut for subs i would go with either fosgate, JL audio, or Kicker the guy that drives around my town has a gremlin with a 32' clarion sub in his back seat/trunkw/ a 8000w amp running to it... his car bounces when he turns on his sub woofer.but its not very good quality of sound at all...
Curtis Posted April 11, 2008 Author Report Posted April 11, 2008 I was thinking about just replacing my back mids. I have tiny little 5" mids in the front and i want to keep them. (alpine) And why shouldn't i use a clarion sub? And omg. What do i want? Mono or chanel amp? I'm thinking mono is better?
