fattwam Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 Im trying to play Halo 2 off of the HDD and not the disc so i can mod everything. So i created a Xbox1 Folder inside of HDD1 and Put the whole of Halo 2 in there. First when loading it up i got a generic error about the game not being able to start and go to xbox.com so i uploaded the patched "Compatibility" files. Now when trying to start the game it seems to load without the first error but then i get a message saying a system update is available if you decline you will be signed out of live (not that im signed in live). I click on NO, Dont update but then the screen just does blank and the game does not load. Im able to play the Game from the disk but can't seem to start it from the HDD and i dunno why.
iBotPeaches Posted July 9, 2012 Report Posted July 9, 2012 This is on your jtag correct? I'll just send you my setup of my Halo 2 thing and see if it works for you.
fattwam Posted July 9, 2012 Author Report Posted July 9, 2012 Yeah on my Jtag. That would be great, i can't wait to start doing some of the old good mods on XBC again. Thanks PeachesTwam
fattwam Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 Hmm, this is happening with not only Halo 2 from the HDD. I just put in Killtrocity map pack 1 dick and it the white screencam up where it shows the old xbox logo and about to start the game and i get the Update Required message. Not a game update but a System update, i clicked on no don't apply the update and again just goes to a black screen and never does anything. Doesn't freeze i can still bring up the menu and go to dash but doesn't load. Update: I just put the retail Halo 2 disk back in and now im unable to load that up either. I get the system update message and when i click don't update it just goes black and hangs. 2ndUpdate: Maybe just the console needs to be updated ? This thing is really old, i dunno what version but its still the grey and green dash.
iBotPeaches Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I vaguely remember needing an update to play Halo 2. http://www.mediafire.com/file/b8wc1rbpszssszi/Halo_2_JTAG_Update.rar
fattwam Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 I downloaded and copied over the u15 files but still when i load up the game i get this error.
iBotPeaches Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 I downloaded and copied over the u15 files but still when i load up the game i get this error. Try these .xbe files for compatibility. http://www.mediafire.com/file/b13rmu85trwbv7d/backwards_compatibilty.rar
fattwam Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 I just copied and replaced what i downloaded from the link your posted to "/HddX/Compatibility/" but still when i load the game it asks for a System Update.
fattwam Posted July 10, 2012 Author Report Posted July 10, 2012 When i go to console setting is says Dashboard 2.0.8955.0.I dunno if its helpful but loading up xexmenu says smc version 2.3.
iBotPeaches Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 When i go to console setting is says Dashboard 2.0.8955.0.I dunno if its helpful but loading up xexmenu says smc version 2.3. That has to be it. That corresponds to date: October 23, 2009 Were on 2.0.15574.0 http://www.bestpig.fr/ (Grab the new freeboot maker). Make a new img, re-flash it.
fattwam Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Great thanks for the info, any tutorials on actually making the new img and re flashing ? I took the noob route and got this thing as is and didn't flash it myself.
iBotPeaches Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Boot the console by hitting the eject button. That should start Xell or Xellous. Hopefully it has the built in httpd server. Hit that URL it shows via a web browser. Then download literally everything (even though we only need the raw dump). Save the other stuff for later. Then we can use that raw dump in building a new image.
fattwam Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 When i start the console with the eject button it just boots up the dash
iBotPeaches Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 When i start the console with the eject button it just boots up the dash Put this on a USB. http://www.mediafire.com/?1podnaz3hh9spo4. Run it from whatever modded dash you have.
fattwam Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Hmm seems this is more difficult then i hoped, now i got this error.Someone told me i might need a wired controller hooked up to the back usb to boot the modded dash, though i don;t have one currently i will get one if required. http://i.imgur.com/vchbu.jpg
fattwam Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 lol sorry Xell Updator for Freeboot v1.2*** Incorrect Kernel Version*** You are currently on version 8955This release only supports the following 5 versions.Lists the versions Press Y to exit.
iBotPeaches Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Hmm. How do we get your nand, if we can't get the tool to get the nand. I'll look into Xellous and see if theres some old versions we can grab. I'll have to get to my desktop at home and look though.
fattwam Posted July 11, 2012 Author Report Posted July 11, 2012 Thanks for all the help Otherwise i might as well be walking through the woods with a bucket on my head.
iBotPeaches Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 I've attached Flash360. Run this XEX (put it on a USB), etc. Then one of the options (without flashing anything) is to dump current configuration. It should dump it to where its being run (so the root of the USB). Then we can work on getting your dump from that and build a new freeBoot image. Then use Flash360 again, except to flash that image. Flash360v1.0.zip
fattwam Posted July 12, 2012 Author Report Posted July 12, 2012 I have downloaded and ran Flash360 and selected backup nand to file.It started copying said error reading block 213 status 250, reading block 3ff of 3ff, overall progress 100%. Now in the usb i have a flashdmp.bin file
iBotPeaches Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 kk. This is what you have to do. Its a bitch, but you need a good NAND dump. Bring that flashdmp.bin to your computer. Name it flashdmp_1.bin Connect back to 360. Do it again. Re-save as flashdmp_2.bin. Do it everytime till it reads without an error, or you hit 6 tiimes. Then we'll have to use TotalCommander / Degraded to re-map bad blocks. (I don't know if either of those move bad blocks, but we can find another program if they don't, because I think there both just verifies)
fattwam Posted July 12, 2012 Author Report Posted July 12, 2012 I have taken them one by one 6 times and now have the files "flashdmp_1" all the way to "flashdmp_6" in a folder on my PC. Every time it reads with the same 1 error Reading 0x1080000 Bytes (16 MiB) ERROR: Reading block 213 status 250 Reading block 3FF of 3FF, Overall progress: 100% finished
iBotPeaches Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 kk. Time to find a bad block re-mapper. I don't know any of those. So I will need to Google.
