Idiot I am, I did something stupid....

Alright, well I've been modding for a while now and I lent my xbox to a friend for a while and after I got it back, I was trying to make more room by cleaning up the drive and I accidentally moved a criticallly important file that caused the xbox to freeze. That was my first idiotic mistake. So I put in my AID v3 dvd and I go to reinstall the dash when I see "Format/Prepare HDD". How better to make room than to start with a fully clean hdd and then just add the dash so i have maximum space? That was the second and most idiotic of my idiotic mistakes. I forgot that AID installs the dashes alright, but it is assuming you have dash.xbe (or dashboard.xbe, one of the two) installed already, since that is what boots the dash. So now I'm stuck without dash.xbe and without a program that installs it. Any ideas to help me?

Yes quite a few ways to go about fixing this.

To help me figure out what to do. Tell me what happens (EX. error code, no screen, Ring Color) When you do the following.

1. No disc in drive, turn on xbox.

2. Turn on xbox with game

3. Turn on xbox with DVD (Yes, it makes difference)

4. Turn on xbox with modded disc of any sort

5. Start xbox, by ejecting disc.

Tell me what happens, so we can decide weather to use HDM 1.9 or Slayers, or ADI.

Sorry for reply being late, been out.

Not many other mods feel like helping

alright well, up until very recently (i've still been trying to fix it, to no avail) the xbox would basically load any disc as long as it was from a cold boot. put the disc in, restart xbox. that includes games, dvds, and modded discs. I've been using AID to try and fix it but i can't seem to get it to work. As for ring color I doubt you're gonna get any info out of that because when it was still working, i had it on the "flashing option" so that it would go green, yellow, red, etc etc. For some odd reason, after it gets past the splash screen it will go to flashing g,y,r; even AFTER i formatted the HDD.

I mentioned "up until very recently" up there and that's because just this morning I went to go try again and it's been giving me the same screen as no disc in xbox for every possible solution, cold boot or not. it comes up with the (i believe) evox dash error screen (the one thats black and white with the skull and cross bones) that says that it cant find Partition C/Blah/Blah/dash.xbe. I know the blahs might be important but im away from the xbox currently and can't remember it exactly. It says "press 'A' to fix this problem." If I press A, it comes up with a loading bar for about 10 seconds, finishes and then reboots but just brings me back to that screen. On that error screen if you press Y it comes up with an Xbox stats/info screen and it will tell you what's in the dvd drive, if anything. You just cant run it from that screen.

Yes, that evox-dash is a recovery program built in to fix your dash. You must have deleted the backup which loads upon clicking A. So I'm completely understanding, if you were to pop in Halo 2, it doesn't even load the game? It just goes to that menu. If you can't boot any discs, or get any dash to load. Your down to 2 options.

1. Hopefully that evox-dash error message, opens up the FTP connection so you can try random numbers that your xbox had before in hopes to connect and re-setup the C drive.

2. You will have to take apart your xbox, plug your xbox harddrive into computer using nifty programs and put that xbox harddrive back to normal.
