Whoops. Looks like GameStop jumped the gun after Sony officially revealed the hot-n-tasty NGP gaming device early (early) this morning.

Although the listing is now offline, Joystiq received a tip leading to a very hefty $999.99 price tag over on GameStop. The listing didn't specify actual hardware or when the device is scheduled to ship (Holiday 2011), but the near-grand "Buy New" pricetag clearly was an error on the retailer's part. The device codenamed Next Generation Portable was announced by Sony today. It is said to include dual analogue sticks, 5 inch OLED capacitive Touchscreen, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. Our friendly neighborhood cash cow GameStop had accidentally listed the device as $999, when no official pricing has even been announced. The device has since been removed from their website. Although the price of $999 is not likely, Sony has expressed that they think consumers would be willing to pay more money for a good device, citing the Kinect as a source. Sony has also stated the NGP will be priced more expensive than the Nintendo 3DS.

In other news, Sony Ericsson will be releasing a full-fledged gaming smartphone called the Xperia Play, as well. The Xperia Play is an Android smart-phone expected to run Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
