From what I can see, it looks like the stock speaker wiring connector from my '92 Sidekick/Tracker

looks like a standard power cable you would use to power a case fan from a mobo on a computer.... they the same?

Yes and No. Really old fans use that connector. "Newer" fan use 3-4 pin connectors (the extra pin(s) being there for monitoring/changing speeds)
