Randomrocket Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 anyway to upgrade my RAM without having to purchase a whole new kit of RAM? I have 2x2GBs of Crucial RAM and I would like 2 more GBs. But the compatible memory list doesnt say if its possible to upgrade it. It doesn't even have my kit on it anymore.... Which is kind of weird. My PC is about a year old so i guess they could have changed it some since I bought the mobo but it would be nice to know before I buy something and it not work at all.... any help would be awesome.
matty0 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 google your mobo, if it can handle up to 8gb then thats a good start. if not then your stuck. if yes then install something along the lines of everest pro and find out the clock speed of your ram (667mhz / 800mhz / 1066mhz / 1600mhz / 2000mhz) then make sure the ram you buy matches the ram you have already installed. you can mix and match sticks without consequence. just dont mix clock speeds. btw, consider that you will have to move onto an x64 based OS if you do the upgrade. not off putting for many people, but for some its a real headache. its not that the software isnt as good, its just that its newer. and driver compatibility can be an issue with certain older hardware. hope i helped.

And I have 1333mhz on both sticks atm. I already have my OS on 64bit so that won't matter. Thanks a ton man. So Ill get another 1333mhz stick and it should be good?
