I need help on knowing if these components actually work together and if I should change the parts around. Also if there is a good online store that ships internationally please tell me. CPU - Intel i7-930 Core i7 CPU - currently I can't afford anything more as I need this PC before 7th DecemberMotherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 MB LGA1366 - I'm getting this board so I can do a lot of upgrades, check out what I plan on upgradingGPU - GeForce GTS 250 - this is the GFX card from my old PCPSU - 1200W "Gigabyte" ODIN PRO Power Supply - again getting this for flexibilityRAM - Geil 2 x 2GB Value DDR3 1333 Ram - correct me if I am wrong but the board only supports 2200/1333/1066/800?HDD - 500GB one from my old PCCase - Antec Nine Hundred Two The upgrades, I'll be grabing these when ever I have the cash to do so. - 24GB of RAM- 4-Way SLI Nvidia GF GTX 480 GPU- HDD - LOTS OF 2TBs- Intel i7-980X- Water Cooling and then overclocking Edited October 10, 2010 by SmokiestGrunl

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the 900 (take a look at the HAF X series). Now on to your upgrades:Lets Start with the 4 way SLI. Okay chaps, conclusion time. Quad SLI obviously makes no sense whatsoever. Heck it's even ridiculous if you'd opt it. Quad SLI at this time is not even supported in games, just 3DMark Vantage has official support. NVIDIA specifically released a driver just to do this, for the overclocking crowd. And guess what; I'm not pointing fingers at all as NVIDIA has been straightforward about this. It sucks though as I definitely would have liked to see some Quad GPU game scaling with this setup.They also mention how the system is bottlenecked by the CPU (The same 980x you plan to upgrade to).(http://www.guru3d.co...ay-sli-review/9)(http://www.engadget....of-diminishing/)---24GB of RAM is rather useless unless you are dealing with a massive amount of programs, rendering huge videos or working with pictures with massive resolutions.---Lots of 2TBs. Get watercooling, the high performance ones run hot hot hot (I love lots of storage too )---980x. I wish I had one.---Water Cooling. This will set you back as much if not more than those 480s (if you still chose to get them). You will probably need a couple of these to effectively cool all that hardware.---Hope that helped some, ask away if you have questions Edit: also, I forgot to mention, to do the Quad SLI with the 480s, you would need at least one 1500w PSU. Which is a problem for me, cause I have a wireless card and my VIA sata controller (for flashing 360s), which are both PCI. But thats just my bias, so it might be a great choice for Smokes. +1
iBotPeaches Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 Ram and Video cards are overkill. I barely go above 40% of my RAM, and I have 6gb DDR3. (I run tons of programs) I'd put the money towards cooling and harddrives, and RAID. You want to backup your stuff.

Awesome cooling and lots of room for upgrades. 1200w PSU is overkill for the moment lol. a 1000W is great enough for you. I have the Antec 750w Blue PSU and the only problem I have with it is that Antec did not make the wires long enough to run behind the mobo and out of sight. Kinda weird but great. 24 GBs of RAM!?!? What do you plan to do? render four 2 hour movies together all at once?? Dude, I have 4 GBs of RAM (planning on getting 2GBs more) and the only time my PC ran out of RAM on a video render was on a video that used over 150 clips. You don't need that much RAM dude. haha

Okay, maybe it took some provoking. 480s take up ~450w in furmark stock, when overclocked, that number rises. And with the other components, it was enough.
