halo3 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) Give your xbox 360 the best reflow out there, a heatgun reflow! Look at the wonderful bending in the board, look at the lovely bubling in the chip, see the absolutly wonderful damage your doing!? =-)* I have no idea what is on the gpu, it's one of my scrap boards, I did it to show how wonderful a heatgun reflow is =-) Ok lol just to clear things up I don't fix 360s this way, I reflow with a custom bga rework station that casues no flexing and is the best reflow you can get. I made this vid to show the harm heatguns cause Btw lol if you can't get a look at the wonderous bending it does look here =-) Edited June 6, 2010 by halo3
Dark Slipstream Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 That has to be the WORST reflow I have ever seen. You are never supposed to keep constant contact, and it should never be so close to the board (thanks Azraelrs). You should apply 10 seconds of heat at a minimum distance of 1-2 inches away from the chip. Wait 20 seconds, then repeat the same steps until you reach 4 minutes time. lol, I learned that from someone who helped me fix an Xbox 360 over team viewer, without flexing the board like you'r idiocy is doing.
Azraelrs Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 How many ways do you want me to point out how inaccurate a representation that is? 1) What temp you heatgunning that board? 2) 10 seconds on, 20 seconds off. Repeat for 4 minutes 3) Bottom heat 4) Low temp oven bake to unflex the board. 5) Don't move the heatgun around, you'll make the board itself bubble. 6) Nice board! Yeah, I still have no idea what that grey cement/glue is on it. At least you got lucky enough that I'm the one that cut my fingers to shit trying to pry it off. The heatsink was actually glued on with that junk.

Only an idiot who doesn't know electronics thinks they can repair an xbox let alone any electronics with an industrial heatgun. it doesn' t matter how you do it, its an industrial heatgun for cry out loud! It will always cause flexing. Edited June 4, 2010 by halo3

I made this to show the harm of heatguning. Heatguns are never a good idea at all, lol heatguns shouldn't even be near any peice of hardware.
