360 Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 this shows you how to clean more than just the focus lens from a sumsung or hitachithis will repair about 99% of all read problem with samsung or hitachi drives. first remove the screw and the metal bracket that hold the ribbon cable in place. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture001.jpg http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture002.jpg next remove screw from bottom side of laser assm. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture003.jpg next your going to insert a screwdriver into the slit on the side of the laser andpop the focus assembly off the base. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture004.jpg gently move the focus block assembly to the side so you can get the the actual laserlens itself, with a q-tip(cotton swab) & alcohol your gonna clean this lens. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture005.jpg next flip the entire lens assembly over so you can get to the underside of thefocus lens, you need to pull part of the q-tip's cotton bud away so it's smallenough to fit in the opening to clen the bottom side of the lens. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture006.jpg Last, re-assemble the lens assembly and then clean the top side of the focus assembly. http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll265/mightywiz/Picture.jpg and that's it your done the laser will play like new again. you can also do this with the benq & liteon drive's but they use glue to hold thefocus block in place, you just need to re-glue it into place after your finishedcleaning it. don't use super glue it will cause you nothing but problems. good luck
