If you look back at all the Wii games that have sold well recently â New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit â youâll see that most of them are Nintendo first party games. On the other hand, third party titles on the Wii â if you can even think of many â never have the same kinds of returns. According to Sony, this trend has caused many of Nintendoâs third party developers to start jumping ship.

Industrygamers.com recently conducted an interview with SCEA Senior Vice President of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer. According to Dyer, Sony believes that many Wii developers are backlashing against Nintendoâs console and ramping up development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games.

Dyer went on to say, "I don't even have to fight for their hearts and minds; I just show them the TRST data with regards to how many top 10 titles are third-party titles on the Wii, or how many top 10 titles are third-party titles on the DS. Not many. It's not a hard story to sell, and they get that. Unless they've got a particular franchise that's worked well on the Wii, you don't see a lot of innovative new IP coming out on that platform.â

What do you guys think? Do you care about third party games on the Wii? Does Nintendo need to do something to entice developers to work on its system? Or is this good riddance?

For Nintendo's sake, they need third-party developers. I'm not a big fan of the "new" Nintendo that it has become but if they want to keep people and attract more people to the console, they need third-party developers.

I loved the "old" nintendo. The Nintendo that had amazing games, like Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64, Super Smash Bros 64, and Super Mario Bros. They keep trying to make those games more "modern game-like" but it really is just taking away from what they used to be.

Nintendo is really becoming shitty

thats why I don't buy their games (and the fact that there is no consequence for burning their games)

I just own some of the main ones like Conduit (the graphics sucked so bad), NSMB (I 100% completed that game), Brawl (unlocked everything important), RE4 (it sucks), CoD4:R (boring, definitely not the same), Mario Galaxy (fun for the first 2 hours, after that it is boring), Mario Kart (not great, but it is ok)

and even with so many extra discs to use, I don't see any others that I want

the only recent game that looked good was Dead Space Extraction, but since they made it an On-The-Rails and not and FPS or TPS theres no way I even want to try it

so I don't blame companies for leaving Nintendo since Nintendo made such a weak system

Honestly, those games were awesome and I love Nintendo, but its a good thing they are all leaving. They didnt put any serious effort into the wii and then they realized that crappy half assed games wont sell. Good for them, they can learn this on every platform they try.
