Slidell Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Spoilers don't read if you do not want!None of this "confirmed" but ya know. Story/Immersion: The start of the game was amazing, I think my jaw literally dropped when I stepped in to the vacuum of space and looked up at that moon/planet. I enjoyed all of the main character recruitment quests and a few of their character specific side quests. I didn't do any of the uncharted side quests, finished the game at level 24. I was really let down by the voice acting of the Elcor and Krogan, they just didn't feel right. Also I didn't come across a single Hanar that spoke to me. Samara's side quest was one of the more interesting ones story wise, however I failed it pretty much instantly since I was playing paragon and it appeared that it required renegade responses (Going to have to do a second Renegade playthrough.) Meeting Legion was a highlight of the story for me, I consider it equal in placement as the part in Mass Effect 1 that you speak to Sovereign. Another jaw drop moment for me was when Legion explained what Sovereign meant when he said "Each of us is a nation, we are Legion" didn't actually realize the full meaning of it until then. Legion also explained a few other things that were interesting, however after awhile his explanations got kind of annoying when they became a bunch of made up mumbo jumbo which essentially meant "you can't under stand it" or was just lazy writing. It wasn't quite as much of emotional peek as speaking with Sovereign in ME1, but it was still pretty good. (two addendum's to this, the first being I am biased towards this part because I am a programmer/geek. The second one being that I had heard spoilers on v about having a geth squad member, I think it would have been a much bigger/better surprise if I had no clue it was coming. (I think when ME3 comes out I will move to the mountains for 2 months with no internet/tv/radio)) The Collectors were kind of lame in my opinion. The whole "Taking Control" and other Harbinger dialog got kind of annoying, and half the time I would have it killed before he was even finished doing it (charge + two point blank shotgun blasts) It also seemed like making the Collectors be Protheans was kind of an after thought, it was a neat revelation but it was only mentioned twice. What was pretty cool was at the end when they revealed that Harbinger was a Reaper not just a master Collector. The last two hours were an awesome thrill ride gameplay wise. However story wise they left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The idea that reapers required sentient genetic material seemed like a decent explanation for what they do, that being said WHY THE **** DO THEY CREATE THE REAPERS IN AN IMAGE OF THE RACE THEY COME FROM. All of the reapers so far we have seen look like insects or weird sea creatures. This includes Sovereign and now Harbinger, even in the final scenes where they show a fleet of reapers NONE of them looked like two armed two legged things, they all had that bug/sea creature look. It feels like this decision was made more for gameplay (the final boss) then for story. I still loved the fight though... In all honesty I could write for hours about the story, but uhh lets move on. Graphics/Sound:Graphics were equal to ME1 with a few exceptions. There seemed to be a lot more 2D detail everywhere. Also the setting was much darker most of the time, even the citadel was dark instead of its normal bright white look and feel. I think the sound was pretty good. One of the things I really enjoyed was the walk in to afterlife, as you start down the entrance hallway you only hear the mid and base of the music and after entering the hall the full range comes in, quite a nice effect. I also loved the sound of charge hitting enemies, I do kind of wish that my shotgun had a little more bass or something, felt like it was missing something. Also there was plenty of use of prerendered cut scenes (probably explains the 14gb in size) And this should have probably been in gameplay, but I wish there were more stats, it felt really dumbed down.... Glitches:Every once in awhile I would start floating straight up, this happened maybe three or four times. However each time it happened saving and reloading seemed to fix it. (I actually wondered if it was one of those things they add in to annoy players of not so legal copies of the game.)charge at end. Romances:MaleMirandaSubject Zero or Jack who names a chick jack?Tali Bioware trolls the shit out of all the tali fans you don't get to see anything not even her face, her skin color I lold and lot's of fanboys will rage. FemaleThaneJacobIt's assumed Garrus but I can't find any proof. During the finale every time I charged I would hit a wall, it was almost like they never even play tested it. It happened one or two times before this area and it didn't bother me, but not being able to use it at all on the final boss section was lame. (combine that with the fact you cant really use the shotgun or charge on the final boss anyway and vanguard is useless for the ending). Also some times Charge would get used up with nothing happening, on the opposite side some times I could charge twice in a row. http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/GMOF_Tucker/1264388999462.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/GMOF_Tucker/1263530718586.jpg http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/GMOF_Tucker/1264383634788.png http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/GMOF_Tucker/1264386077372.jpgRandom side mission with crashed ship. Ship is tettering back and forth on a huge ******* mountain. Jesus Christ I was actually tense for the first time in a long time in a video game. http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp190/GMOF_Tucker/1263962596873.pngFrom ME1 but something that not allot of people know possibly hints to ME3's plot. Vanguards got heavily nerfed. However that doesn't mean they're not fun Charge and pull are helpful in closing the distances, but the shotguns you have access to are terrible. I ran through the entire game preferring submachine guns over my shotgun. You barely have any ammo for the shotgun as well. In example, using a scimitar shotgun which has 24 rounds total, you'd burn through 8 shots on two mobs. It has no range at all. But, charging people was definitely the most entertaining thing I did combat wise. Level 4 gives you the option to make it slow mo too, for about two seconds, allowing you to shoot your target while they're getting knocked back. Infiltrator's sniper rifle has been upgraded, no swaying scope anymore, and dead on accuracy. Too accurate though, as sometimes you'll shoot over your target by a milimeter sometimes. The tact cloak is a nice ability, but you have to be quick or its kinda pointless. I didn't post the "ending" because I don't want to spoil that I **** myself over with it. I didn't pirate this that's why it's not confirmed take what you will from it the pics are confirmation of some stuff.
iBotPeaches Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 I downloaded the game, and started playing it and I was soooo bored I went back to Assassins 2. So take that from my opinion.
