Curtis Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Yaaaa so i got rrod, watching a movie with my girlfriend. I was like OMGZ! cuz the version i got "doesnt get rrod" but ya it did. So i did the penny trick, then its all like unplug fan and let melt. Then xbox worked with no casing on, put casing on and RROD again. I didnt put the x bolts in. So what should i do, cause i need to put the case on eventually, i even made the scews realllly lose when i put the case on.
iBotPeaches Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Before you murdered it, did you have any warranty left? lol
Curtis Posted January 2, 2010 Author Report Posted January 2, 2010 poor big help you guys have been, and im not ****** retarded. The warranty was all up, and considering i've modified the disk drive already there wouldn't be much chance. And the ******* Chassis of the 360 casing was designed so poorly that naturally the xbox motherboard would bend and warp. But i guess i'll bring my topic to a site where people can give me an answer lol, or at least help me in someway.
iBotPeaches Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 I don't know yet what your reporting. You say you have red rings, but you failed to say how many. One could be overheat which could be prevented, while another rrod could be the E74 error code on the horizon. (Video card is melting) We will help

miinaturvat Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 Leave it out of the case. Mine isn't in a case; it's sitting on 2 blocks of wood, with the DVD drive rotated 90 degrees clockwise, sitting on a stand made of lego, to stop the heat from the GPU wrecking the drive
Curtis Posted January 2, 2010 Author Report Posted January 2, 2010 sigh... this xbox does move a lot, so it needs to be cased. Now its stopped working with the casing off too.
jmdalmighty Posted January 2, 2010 Report Posted January 2, 2010 (edited) i suggest you buy a special kit of ebay for $7 and use the tut it comes with my friend did it 2 years ago and no problems yet. ill look for a link and post it for you. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=110474056175&Category=139969&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2 Edited January 2, 2010 by jmdalmighty
Twis7eD Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Microsoft may still take your Xbox even if you have a flashed drive and have already taken your Xbox apart. As long as your Xbox isn't banned from LIVE, just try to send it in. Sometimes they still fix it without knowing that your drive is flashed and sometimes they even fix it when they clearly see that the Xbox has been opened before. I would just give it a shot if I were you.

I was hoping for someone with knowledge of this mess, or someone who could give me information.
iBotPeaches Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 XS would be the place to ask for questions like those. Some of the people there have taken apart like 1000 xboxes to reflow, flash, etc and they know the xbox inside and out. Its not that were not helpful, we just don't have a large background and experience of individualized problems like yours.
Decatur Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 And the ******* Chassis of the 360 casing was designed so poorly that naturally the xbox motherboard would bend and warp. actually, smart guy, it's not the chasis that causes the motherboard to warp, it's MS's way of keeping the heatsink on the board, via 2 metal clips in an X. when the x heats up, it stretches away from the mobo, causing tension and cold bridges and eventually failure. Don't insult us when you don't know what you're talking about. bro.

Fyi- http://xbox-experts.com/tutorial/team-hybrids-ultimate-xclamp-fix-released/ Poor cooling design, and bad chassis. Ms should of had fan underneath and mount heatsinks right I was hoping for someone with similar experience, and wanting to see what they did. Wasn't insulting, just a lil frustrated because i've dumped years into this site, and whenever i need help no one has an answer for me.

Quinn Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Everyone bashes MS for their design. But in reality, look at the 360, and tell me it isn't small, the computers and consoles go. With it being small, MS had a challenge to fit everything in there while keeping it cool. They kinda failed. Also, why would you put a fun under it, unless there is proper airflow (which there isn't under there) then fans are useless. Best way to go, water cooling

Azraelrs Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) OK, I can actually answer your question... sort of. To answer it fully, I'll need more info. 1) IF and that's a BIG IF, you haven't destroyed it with the penny trick and overheating it. Then put it back to normal. The penny trick will warp the board. 2) don't ever over heat your 360 or do the towel trick 3) now, pull the secondary code and I'll tell you exactly what you need to focus on the fix it. Also, contrary to popular belief, the factory X clamps do not cause the board to warp. Actually, the factory X clamps are better than any RROD kit you can use. This, like 95% of all 360 errors is caused by heat. So, pull the secondary code and I'll tell you everything you need to know. Edited January 27, 2010 by Azraelrs
