When I really start pushing my ATI 5770 it pushes 57C and knocks my case really high temp wise, and then my comp force shuts down to prevent overheat. Could I just purchase a video card cooler, and pop it in the slot below the card and it would work? Or just a poor case for a hot video card?

I have no experience cooling a video card, but I found something like this and thought it might work.

If the original cooler looks adaquate, then take it off, remove the shitty thermal paste and put on some high quality stuff. (24 carat diamond thermal compound brings my cpu temps down around 10-15c)

The paste for a CPU and GPU will be exactly the same, since all the paste does is transfer the heat from a chip to a big clump of metal :D

But I wouldn't put any thurmal paste below the card, as goodcrap so crudely suggested...

Thanks :p

I also bought a fan that just plugs into one of my pci slots.

That's the way to go, I think. I have a Radeaon 4870 and the customer reviews say it has gotten up to 100C when under load!! I could boil water on that! :(
