There's this thing in my computer that doesn't let me view, open, delete, copy, move, or rename certain files. Does anyone know a way i can remove it or get around it in anyway? here's an example of something i was trying to rename:

Or the simple question, is it being used?

Is that picture your desktop background? Did some software install it?

Go to run and type in "msconfig"

Then go to the startup tab and un-check everything that doesn't look legit. Then restart, and hopefully you will have permission to delete it. (Assuming you prevented non-legitimate programs from loading on start-up)

so you just restarted your computer and sometimes it doesn't have the protection on it?

sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. I still recommend a format and re-install of the OS

Will I loose my files that are under that protection if I do that?

Yes, unless you disable the protection, move em to a usb stick then put them back on the pc later

:( I've tried that before, it won't let me copy or move them from the spot they're at when the virus hit.

And have you tried right-clicking them and making sure they're not "read-only"? :D

lol if only it was that simple, but the problem with that is if they're "read-only" you can still view/play the file just not change anything on it, but I can't even view it :(

Have you tried putting them on a USB and trying to open/edit the pics on another computer? Just a stab at the dark really but it could narrow down the problem if you can open them.

yes i have, it won't let me move them to any external hard drives :(, but thanks anyway

If it were me in your position, I would re-format my computer, but I guess it's your decision.
