iBotPeaches Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Thanks to fattwam we now have an SSL Certificate. That means every time you go to a page where a login is required an HTTPS url will appear and a seal for SSL (Secure Socket Layer) which in turn means more security.
Curtis Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 fattwam ftw, what would we benefit from greater security? Like less chance of stolen passwords?
iBotPeaches Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 I don't honestly know the exact difference from the technical standpoint except that data is encrypted when passed back n forth.
Dark Slipstream Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Click Here: http://www.ibotmodz.net/forum/login.html. (While signed out) The HTTPS automatically redirects back to HTTP.
iBotPeaches Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 Bug with IPB already fixed for 3.0.5
Curtis Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 Yeah i know what its used for, when your dealing with sensitive data. What confidentail information is passed through html through this site? lol
Dark Slipstream Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 It's only when logging in or logging out.
Dark Slipstream Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Just to clerify, you should have an HTTPS login/logout redirect to the https version of your homepage. That way the remaining secure POST data is sent to another secure page, then people can just leave that page.
