Halo 3 Modding Video

I thought this was appropriate to post here since it does have to do with modding and it will be more visible here than the oh-so-inactive Movies/Videos section.

This is a Video of me modding Halo 3 with a tool I created. It was not done on Xbox Live, it was done locally and will not be released because I wouldn't want to be known as the "Downfall of modding" as one told me.

Video Link:

http://useruploads.mythica.org/cgi-bin/ ... id=3195917

Mod Description:

SMG Shader swap.

Jump High

Scorpion Turret replaces Warthog Turret(Classic...)

Prowler lodged in the middle of an elephant controls it.

Some effect edits...

Invincibility..

Note: These mods may be simple, but were a proof of concept.. I hope you enjoyed the video... The song is called Jordan by Buckethead.

Credits:

Kornman00: Pointing me in the right direction of some values, among other things, etc...

Shad0w LAG: Helping with the application used, testing bugs, etc.

Here's another Video created as a result of the application made.. This video was not created by me. Only the first one was:

Sorry about my name all over the first video... I don't want people ripping things I have done as it has been done to me many times...

Enjoy..

Anthony told me he gave his modding knowledge to bungie which may lead to the first halo modding tut expect that patch cuz its what may bring us h3 modding

so he gave his information to the enemy and could possibly make it harder to mod after the update!?

where did you find that out?

It is called a Dev Kit, it is not quite modding. You can boot your games from the dev kit, and by pass all security checks, and kinda of mod it live. Meaning you have a frame as long as its connected to mod it, then it boots the game without the resign code via dev kit

Xbox Development Kit (XDK), is a software development kit created by Microsoft used to write software for the Xbox gaming system. The XDK includes libraries, a compiler, and various tools used to create software for the Xbox. The XDK also has the option to integrate itself into Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003.

[edit] Purpose

XDK was also designed to be used in conjunction with an Xbox console with the XDK Debug BIOS. It includes features to link to the console for real-time debug feedback, including system activity and network monitors.

Only developers that are licensed by Microsoft may compile code and release binaries of their software with the XDK, any software released using the XDK by developers that aren't licensed is illegal. Most of the underground homebrew software for the Xbox is compiled using the XDK, and thus is illegal. To address this problem, the OpenXDK project has been started to create an open source replacement for the XDK. However, as of July 2007, it is still in beta.

Many people who are supplied with XDKs are required to sign Non-disclosure agreements or (NDA) so they do not disclose any information about Microsoft's development technology.

oh if anyone wants this let me know and i can tell you where to find it

A type of one yes. A dev kit can be related to Halo Cache 1.0 for normal xbox. The xbox never thinks its actually resigned or running, it routes it through that dev_kit or Halo Cache editor, and you can do that changes to it LIVE. It instantly then disables online play due to the reaction, but thats kinda what a dev_kit is in perception.
