Compress 3-4 GB File Down To 30MB Or Less In A .rar Archive

Now I know for a fact this can be done, I have even seen it done before. I spent like 2 hours a couple of days ago searching for a way to do it with no luck. I do know that compressing a file that small will take a very long time, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

KGB doesn't support .rar. I also tried KGB and it only can make a file an average of 1/3 the size on the highest compression.

Are you sure its possible?

 

I remember two years ago when I was uploading a Halo 2 Mod and I tried compressing a .rar into another .rar and it didn't work.

Yes it is possible, somewhere in the VIP section, there is a full Windows ISO compressed down to only like 20 MB. I've seen more files like that, this was only an example.

Maybe it has an option to use a different compression method.

Nope, it can only compress to kgb or zip. Still it can only compress to 1/3 the original file size.

i can but its not only .rar

 

first you .rar it then you .pak it then you change the file type to .txt or something and then u .rar it and repeat to how small you want it

I thought you can rename it from .zip to .rar. I don't know for sure though.

If you compress the files into a zip with kgb, the files do not shrink that much. Nothing close to 20 mb or less.

 

edit: Also, compressing a already compressed file doing the same compression over again will not make the archive any smaller.

Why don't you just use KGB?

Too clarify what he is suggesting, Compress it to a .rar using KGB, than compress it to any other format, basically anything that uses a different compression method, and then repeat. I got a GB to 10 Mb =D. But if you do this, it corrupts mad easily. I made like ten copys before one extracted properly.

Its possible, I've seen GTA SA packed into 2 megs (just for S&Gs I dled and extracted, it took most of the day though...)
