.Slack♠ Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I want a pc with a big hardrive, at least four gigs of ram an intel core duo/quad it must be in the $500-$700 range.I'm thinking thishttp://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4634334&CatId=2639
Pargy Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I suggest you build one if you can...if not, HP is pretty good.
.Slack♠ Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 It is an HP computer and since this is comes with 64-bit windows vista (no free upgrade to windows 7 though :[) I can upgrade the Ram to a max of 8 Gigs
iBotPeaches Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Let me tell you from personal experience. After buying pre-built computers for awhile, and switching to a custom built it feels a lot better and works better. The prices are cheap but the specs are amazing for those computers because they buy sub-par parts from foreign countries. If you buy known named brand pieces and build your own computer it could have 1.5gb of RAM and run better than 4gb of that HP ram. If building computers is out of your league or just don't want to do it, I guess HP (since its better than Dell). I just thought I'd voice an opinion.
.Slack♠ Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) Compusa has a "build to order" category should I try that and see if I can get a pc like that or better at a smaller price? If I do that I'm gonna need to know what sort of details it should have.Check it out http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1307 Edited August 18, 2009 by .Slack♠
matty0 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 build 1!!! you'l spend half the cash and get twice the equipment. and peaches is right! most hardware manufacturers use 533mhz ddr2 ram, whereas if you build it you could put in 800mhz ddr3 and ud still pay less. trust me, build it. its not as tough as people think
