T3A guy Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Open source certainly helped non-developer computer users but does it hurt developers so much that it isn't worth it? Debate.
V3NOM Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 It all depends on the source and the programmer. If the programmer wants to release the source, then he can.Open source also allows it to be modified to make it better. But it can also be wrongly modified. So I say both.
yungbol Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 If the developer really really cares if something with his app is stolen then its bad don't do it. If the developer wants others to learn and don't care if it gets stolen, its good.
Dark Slipstream Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 If the developer wants others to learn and don't care if it gets stolen, its good. That is where I stand.
TheEazyB Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Look at Linux. I like Open Source, but I myself have some embarassments I don't want to release, so I can see why some developers dont want to.
iBotPeaches Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 I think comparing our little apps to large scale open source things is a completely different debate. I don't download sources to firefox and learn it, cause I don't have any desire to. However when someone does something sweat involving Halo 3 or something I like reading the source so I know it for the future.
