If anyone buys the account to use it on their profile (using research) you won't do it because there's nothing to mod in the profile to give yourself recon. You need to modify the mainmenu.map to unlock the armor (the xex too if you dont want it to get removed, only happens sometimes anyway).

No, because that would mean that every person who has earned Recon has a modifed mainmenu.map or xex by Bungie...
