iBotPeaches Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Humpday Challenge: Statistics Count Posted by lukems at 11/29/2007 5:18 PM PST SinceHalo 3 released, we havenÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t lost a Humpday. There have been some closebattles, some sketchy outcomes but we havenÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t out and out taken abeating yet. Now thatÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s not to say that weÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re going to stay unbeaten,we donÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t want to be the Patriots Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? the team everyone looks at and hopesthey lose. We want to be the kids learning how to triple deke, thekids youÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re really hoping makes it happen with the coachÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s daughter, wewant to be that one good dude from Varsity Blues. Unfortunately, that means no matter who weÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re playing, they have to be the bad guys.Or in the case of last nightÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s crotch-to-face experience four bad guysand one bad girl even though they were perfectly friendly, kind andhilarious Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? the admins from Web site http://halo3.junk.ws had to be treated like generic villains in a Seagal flick. Halo3.junk.ws (HJW) is a community-driven website that expands onthe statistical tracking done via Bungie.net and takes that data, repurposes it and displays it in a variety of ways. They have graphs, charts, forum signatures and some leaderboard functionality. The onlyway they can track your stats though, is if you sign-up over at their website. HereÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s the cast for this weekÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s show. BungieNew0001 Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? Joe Tung Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??Hey, you donÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t die instantly when youÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re shot in Halo 3Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?ÂJonnyOthan Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? Jon Cable Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??You guys wanna try out this new Rocket Race variant?Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?ÂTJ Scoot Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? Luke Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??I have a Madden game after this.Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?ÂFrankie Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? Lars Bakken Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??Can we hurry up, I gots more assassinations to do.Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã? Halo3.junk.wsImportant note: WeÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢re just usingthe titles they provided and there are a lot of Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??these players shouldbe really goodÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã? type titles. So, about the whole Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??pinkÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã? thing. For whatever reason when he joinedthe lobby, New0001 switched to the pink team, probably just todistinguish himself from the chatty horde in the lobby that heÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢d justjoined. So I switched to pink and as the room filled up, each Bungieplayer just followed suit and switched their team color to pink. ItwasnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t until the second game had begun and Frankie pointed out that theEmperor, wasnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t naked, but rather, clad in fleshy pink. Not thatthereÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s anything wrong with that, pink is just a softer shade of red.IÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢d wear a pink sweater, I think Frank would too. I remember the Team King rules IÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢d arbitrarily made a few weeks agoÃ?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? and maybe I made those because I was irritated, but I forgot tochange the settings before this game, so we played some good olÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢default Team King, instead. ThereÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s a bunch of slippery corners to hidearound barely outside of the explosion radii of well-placed spammedgrenades and thatÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s where we made our encampment. Lars spent a ton of time in the Hill and we got out to a prettysizable lead before our communication broke down and we started to losefocus, lose time and just lose. Almost. Final Score: Bungie wins, 150-116Watch the game hereGame 2http://www.ibotmodz.net/forum/uploads/remoteimages1/3622-421.jpg Lowball on GuardianTone of Game: WTF FrankBefore the first game there were nine of us in a lobby waiting onthe last person. That person was Frankie and he was having issues withhis Internet, again. There was something wrong with his router, justlike there seems to be every week that he plays. He Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??fixed itÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã? and thenjoined. We suggested Lowball, a kindler, gentler change from ourtypical Team Slayer on a symmetrical map. Lowball, for thosefolks who havenÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t played it before, is just like Oddball, but the onlyscore that counts is the score of the lowest person on your team. Withdefault settings, each player has to hold the ball for 25 ticks andthen once each player has 25 points, the game ends, hence the name Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å?Lowball. We got out to a big lead in the Shotgun corridor on Guardian. Weholed up and were passing the rock like the Showtime-era Lakers. Cablewas dishing it like Magic, Tung was killing dudes like Kareem, Lars wasconsistent like Worthy, and while he might've come in the post-Showtimeera, Frankie was pulling an Elden Campbell. I was running around tryingto keep folks from harassing the other fellas while they shared theOddball. Then, disaster struck. After getting his 25 points AND an Overkill (that clip of the cosmos aligning is available for download in Bungie Favorites, this week), somehow Frankie was disconnected. His Internet connectionstruck again, only this time with horrific repercussions. When youÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢rethe last guy who needs to grab the ball on Lowball, you become a hugetarget and we were a man down. Halo3.junk.ws organized, focused theirfire like saavy MMO players and kept killing me over and over again. Down a man, their time ticked upwards and ours didnÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢t move at all.To their credit, the Halo3.junk.ws folks asked us if weÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢d like torematch the game with even teams, but we respectfully declined. Lifegave us lemons and our faces were puckered up. Final score: HJW Wins (25-10)Watch the game hereGame 3http://www.ibotmodz.net/forum/uploads/remoteimages1/3622-422.jpg Team Slayer on IsolationTone of Game: Redemptive Originally, we had planned on trying out one of the HJW folksÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢ newgametypes Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? a hybridization of Slayer and Oddball where teams earnedpoints for kills and toting the ball Ã?¢ââ??‰â?¬Å? but because our first two gameshad been objective-focused, HJW chose a Team Slayer game for thepivotal third match. With FrankieÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢s Internet still on the fritz,M0NKEYNUTZ stepped aside, as well. Isolation Team Slayer is pretty straightforward, while Fromanprefers to take the Ã?¢ââ??¬Ã?â??if you camp it, they will comeÃ?¢ââ??¬Ã? tactic of hangingout in the goo-tunnels, we decided to just run around the top of themap spraying foolishly with the Needler. And by decided, I mean "withno planning whatsoever, this is what unfolded naturally over the courseof battle." Mid-game, the Internet fairy visited FrankieÃ?¢ââ??‰â??¢shouse and turned on his connection. He rejoined as a member of the blueteam, he may have killed us a few times, but he did switch colors andthen moments later, M0NKEYNUTZ rejoined as well. The penalty killingwas done for both teams. Frankie's five kill performance in limited action versus M0NKEYNUTZ lone kill upon rejoining turned the tide (not really, actually). Final score: Bungie Wins (50-41)Watch the game here
