  4. Please take note of the *wink* @ the end of this post buddy.... If I were you I would not follow a single bit of the advice given... lol. This is a very old thread, and i do not understand why it was recently resurrected.. Lol... But if anyone else has similar problems, and looks to this thread for advice... read On. The Windows registry is a directory which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows 32-bit versions, 64-bit versions and Windows Mobile. It contains information and settings for all the hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, users, preferences of the PC, etc. Whenever a user makes changes to Control Panel settings, file associations, system policies, or most installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in the registry. The registry also provides a window into the operation of the kernel, exposing runtime information such as performance counters and currently active hardware. Regediting and deleting all these entries would essentially destroy your current windows installation. In the simplest terms, your computer would not know that is was a computer. C:WindowsSystem32 is the folder that contains all the files that make up Windows itself. These are .sys system files, and contain program executable code for things such as drivers, and even more basic things such as screensavers. Deleting these files would also render your computer absolutley uselsss (untill you reinstalled windows that is) And disabling your routers firewall is also something I would not recommend. If your internet was going slow, I would get intouch with your ISP. They will recommend you change your MTU Settings to between 1400 and 1492, depending upon which MTU transmission base they use. Disabling your firewall leaves you completely vunerable to such attacks as Ping Flood and DoS (Denial of Service). Don't do it buddy. If you are having other connection problems, with other apps, simply open the required ports on your router... Don't resort to DMZ yet, as there is no need to have all ports open. *** Your friendly Neighbourhood Promo.
