    Developed by:Ensemble Studios
    Release Date:February 2009
    Genre:Real Time Strategy (RTS)

    About This Game
A strategy game based on the Halo universe, Halo Wars immerses you in an early period of the storied Halo universe, allowing you to experience events leading up to the first Halo title. With the guidance of Serina, a spirited artificial intelligence (A.I.) persona, direct legions of UNSC soldiers, Warthogs, Scorpions, and more, each group having its own strengths and uses in battle. Adventurous commanders can also call upon ancient Forerunner technology, if they are fortunate enough to find it hidden throughout the battlefield.

In campaign mode, command the armies of the UNSC warship Spirit of Fire, with familiar and new UNSC units in its initial encounters against the Covenant, an alien coalition threatening to obliterate mankind. Covenant forces are also waiting for you to lead them into battle in multiplayer skirmishes via the New Xbox Experience. Call upon an arsenal of new and familiar Covenant units such as Grunts, Elites, Ghosts, and even Scarabs to defeat foes on the battlefield.

    The Controls
We've spent a great deal of time simply on getting the controls right. Halo Wars was created for the Xbox 360 from the ground up, which meant we didn't have to make compromises or shoe-horn in artifacts from a Windows PC game. We were able to take all the best aspects of RTS games, make them work perfectly on the Xbox 360, and exclude the rest.

    About The Developers
Halo Wars is currently under development at Ensemble Studios in Dallas, Texas. We are the developers behind the award winning Age of Empires series of real-time strategy games, and we're very excited to be able to work in the universe that our friends at Bungie have created.

    The UNSC
In Halo Wars you’ll find that the UNSC field a very versatile arsenal. You can enlist the aid of Marines, Warthogs, Scorpions and Hornets to strategically control areas of the map or advance on new ones. Specialized UNSC leaders offer you further tactical abilities such as calling in support from Spirit of Fire above and highly specialized units that can make the difference between winning and losing.

Whether its close air support, infantry, or heavy armor, the UNSC can field the units to get the job done.

    The Spirit of Fire

    CFV-88

    Constructed: 2473
    Class: Phoenix
    Captain: Cutter
    A.I.: On board - "Serina"

The Spirit of Fire was originally a colony ship, transporting equipment and colonists in the UNSC's expansion efforts. In 2520 the ship was refit with a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon and other armaments to serve as a warship. Huge storage bays that used to house machine parts now carry everything from Warthogs and Scorpion Tanks to construction supplies for fire bases in hot spots in front line engagements or in rearguard actions.

The campaign in Halo Wars follows the Spirit of Fire and her crew as the UNSC deals with the first deadly encounters with the Covenant.

This is the ship seen in the video teaser 'Field Trip to Harvest'

Now here are some random videos/trailers/teasers I really enjoyed.

Note: Most of this was gathered from either IGN or the Official Halo Wars Community Site.

I am a fan of the books, and from what I have read online (unconfirmed) roughly 10-20 years before the events of Halo CE.

I can't wait for this game looks real good not being 'The Chief' the whole time, or the arbiter.
