Microsoft won't be joining Sony and Nintendo in handheld warfare
Microsoft has gunned down gossip suggesting an Xbox handheld is in the works, crushing gamersâ?? dreams everywhere in the process.
UK Xbox boss, Stephen McGill, who denied the juicy rumour certainly had his work cut out having earlier denied a brand new Xbox console was in the offing.
The latest crushing blow was delivered in typically, er crushing style. â??No, weâ??re not looking to do a handheld gaming device.â? He said. Canâ??t get any more empathic than that.
But with the Sony PSP 3000 and Nintendo DSi taking all the portable plaudits is Microsoft missing out? Especially since Microsoftâ??s the only major console maker without a handheld. Probed further on this thread, McGill simply said, â??No thank you, weâ??ve got plenty going on with the 360. We donâ??t want to get distracted by going into the handheld market.â?
Shame, so with Microsoft already involved with gaming on Windows Mobileâ??s it looks like weâ??ll no longer be expecting an Xbox style handheld after all. Sniff.
