I've found an abandoned game variant called Headhunter.

Here are the in-game messages:

You picked up a head
You picked up [num] heads
[cause_player] has a new target [effect_player]
You dropped off [delta_heads] for [delta_points]
[cause_player] scored [delta_points]
[cause_player] lost [old_heads]
Carrying [new_heads]


I've seen other messages like:

Quote:
You are the odd man out
Your Flag is missing!
Respawn in [local_spawn_time]
Observing
Changing sides in [switch_side_time]


Those I believe aren't shown in the final version of the game.


I can't see why Bungie removed 'Safe Zones' from Infection variants. It's still in the game data, but abandoned.


2 medals that wasn't available in the final version:

Vehicle Kill - Destroy a vehicle occupied by an opponent.
Is Quisnam Protero Damno - Kill 15 Zombies in a row as the Human without dying.


Those I may find reasons for abandoning.

Also, I've seen the list of all possible things you can get killed by and stumbled upon the following:

Those aren't Sentinel Beams. Because there's an entry for Sentinel Beam.


Also, in the beta version, they had Smoke Bombs.


Also, you know the missing slot for the skull in the skull menu. That missing skull is called "That's Just... Wrong".

Vortex is a mini-blackhole equipment that was scrapped from the final version because it was so costly to the processor.

Also, what ever happened to Telefragging? Halo 3 has it, but it's disabled by code.

There's also a menu page called Headquarters. I have no clue what this is.

Race is also scrapped but available in the Beta version.

Last, but not least, there's a scrapped vehicle called the 'Mantis'.


Oh, my God. Someone, PLEASE unlock Vortex.

Ill bet the heads game is a race to see how many heads you can collect. There would be like 10 heads on a map and 4 to 5 players would race to collect them and then fight to get them all, the person with more heads is stronger, but can only use dual weildable weapons. thats my guess.

Headhunter is where you collect heads, and deliver them somewhere, and get points for it.

sounds kinda like an oddball ctf game where you take the balls to your base for points
