Okay this way requires you to open up your Xbox. But if you are a hardmodder it shouldn't be a problem.
- Find you VideoChip on your MotherBoard. It is in the same position on all Verisons.
A - If Your Xbox's VideoChip says "Conexant" on it follow all the steps with an "A" next to all them.
B - If Your Xbox's VideoChip says "Focus" on it follow all the steps with a "B" next to all them.
C - If Your Xbox's VideoChip says "Xcalibur" on it follow all the steps with a "C" next to all them
A - Now locate the GPU on your motherboard. This is also the same on all verisons.
A - Now check and see if you have a FAN on top of your GPU. If you do follow all the steps with two "A's" after them.
A - If your Xbox DOES NOT have a fan on the GPU (shown Below) follow all the intructions with 2 letter's like this "AB"
AA - --You have a Xbox Verison 1.0--
AB - Now find the location of the Power Connecter on the Motherboard. This is the same on all verisons.
AB - Now check how many row of pins your power connector has.
AB - If your row of pins looks like this one (shown below) You have a Xbox Verison 1.1 If it does not look like this see if the other picture matches it.
AB - If your row of pins looks like this one (shown below) You have either a Xbox Verison 1.2 or Xbox Verison 1.3 There is no perfect method to find out if you are a V. 1.2 or V. 1.3
B - There is also no perfect way to figure this out. --You are either a Xbox Verison 1.4 or a Xbox Verison 1.5-- *NOTE* Don't just assume you have a v1.5 because you have a new Xbox. There are very few v1.5 xboxes (we don't have exact data about this - but probably only produced on a few production lines in August 2003 (as testrun, production fault, ... we don't know). As far as we know Microsoft produced the Verison 1.4 again on all lines after that. You most probably have a Xbox Verison 1.4
C - Now find the Location of one of your ram Chips. Now check which brand of RAM chips your Xbox has.
C - If your RAM chip is made by Samsung (picture shown below) --You have a Xbox Verison 1.6--
C - If your RAM chip is made by Hynix (picture shown below) --You have a Xbox Verison 1.6b--
I hope you were able to figure out which Verison Xbox you have. THis comes in handy, when your needeing to install a Mod CHip and stuff like that.
