What's the point of bridging when you can do the language filter trick?

because 1000s of people do that and you dont always match up with the people you want to

You need to know the right time to do it and the right language to select.

the only thing you can do on halo 3 bridging wise is circle boosting , but forcing host does not work anymore since all of updates , just like standby-ing or team standby-ing because if the host starts lagging mid-game , the host of the game will change to reduce lag.
just like forcing host , bungie put a stop to that in halo 2 it can not be done anymore in halo 2 or 3, if you try the game will just not ever start you will get all the players matched up but before the game starts it just goes back to finding players.

the simple way is to make a lag switch, and download Zone Alarm Pro with Firewall.
Then configure firewall to block all ports at any given time, then u enter Bungie's IP, and Microsoft's IP, and your buddies IP's in the safe list.
Goto matchmaking and enable complete firewall, start matchmaking if ure unable to find a match u did it right, now turn it off, get in the game, and once it starts, enable firewall. ure done. if it doesnt work, turn lag switch on/off to make them lag. since ure buddies are bridged, u wont lag them.
