I would not ask if it were not an emergency, for I just bought an extremely overpriced iPod nano 6g 16gb and I can't put any songs on it because my computer has an extremely dangerous Trojan virus that shuts down my computer when I go in normal mode an often shuts down in safe mode. I have the disks required to re-install everything, but I can't get any programs at all to open in safe mode (not even task manager at times) and I'm too stupid to understand how to use anything in command prompt, and I'd google it for help but you have no idea how much of a pain in the ass google for help is on the iPhone.

I really don't give a shit if every drop of information on the thing is lost, I've got my songs safely stored on a USB drive and that is all I need. Please, for the sake of ruining my hearing with full blast rock and hip hop, HELP meeeeeeeeee

Well if you don't care about your information get your hands on a clean copy of windows and install it on ur pc.

Format it, then install windows via dvd.

use your friends computer to do these steps

1: downlaod latest version of ubuntu linux
2: put it on a dvd
3: get your windows 7/vista files onto a DVD(remember to write at lowest speeds)

on your laptop.

1: enter the bios (should be delete key at start)
2: select your CD/DVDV drive for boot option
3:select boot from cd when you start up
4: go to Gparted and format your hdd
5: shut down after inserting the windows cd/dvd into your dvd drive
6: install windows
7:????
8:profit

yes but ubuntu is designed for CDs not DVDs it would be a waste to put it on a DVD, also laptops have a lot of specialized drivers that might only be available for windows OS so look into that first and DL what you need for linux OS

Linux supports a lot of hardware. And yes, ubuntu will fit on a CD. But personally, if I were to make a linux rescue CD, I would be using Knoppix. I dislike Ubuntu tbh.

you shoudnt need to install drivers to use a live CD. I never did when i was on laptop's and i've used ubuntu live CD's on alot of lappy's. And yes, i Agree CD's are better to put linux on but im just sayin you can use a DVD as well

right click and save as on this link

it is a direct download from micro$hit for windows 7 home premium (x32) download it on any computer, burn it to a dvd (s...l...o...w...l...y) then boot from the dvd

(usually computers are pre-configured to boot from the disk drive if a disk is present, but if not, one of the "F" keys should do it. try "F11" or "F12" as they tend to be for the most common mobo's)

once the disk boots, select your hard drive and do a "Format" that will erase everything on the drive and give you a clean slate to work from. once win7 is installed, get an antivirus on there before ANYTHING else. then, plug in your pen drive containing your music, and do a full scan. if the virus derived from that then you're shafted. if not then stick your tunes back on and continue happily.

oh and a word of advice, viruses come from 3 places;

1) p2p (limewire/torrents) - make sure you have an antivirus CONSTANTLY scanning your download folder, and if you use torrents, make sure you get ones that people have commented on cnfirming its safe. (dont be a guinea pig!)

2) Warez sites - we've all been there, but its important to keep yourself safe. make sure you have winrar installed, and then using an antivirus of your choice scan the "archives" before you extract them to get to the download. DO NOT extract without first checking there safe!

3) Pronz - if you are a naughty boy then you might want to look at these websites just built for mummy's and daddy's who love eachother very much. this is a bad idea unless you have a browser that can go into some form of "private" mode (safari/chrome/firefox all do i believe) as they do not save the webpages or underlying code. also, keep an antivirus running in the background for safety.
Oh, and if it has "Rule 34" ANYWHERE on the site, run away, hide under a table and hope for a nuclear bomb to hit your house. once you see anything based on rule 34... it can't be unseen... ever...
