We've had quite a lot of downtime in the past few days, even though we were running a very nicely tuned server. I'm about ready to launch a huge ReachStats project, and I cannot have frequent downtime. So we have moved to fattwam's server. I didn't have SSH access while moving files, so I had to do everything very slowly by hand. I'm bound to make errors, but am quickly fixing anything I find.

A huge bug we have right now is that we have the database structure of a newer version of IPB, but running it on the file system of an older IPB. My only choice is to re-upload a fresh copy of the newer IPB and re-perform the modifications.

Peaches probably didn't do anything to the guy. Personally, I don't know what decima7e is doing. He did the same to my site though and he has hacked another site that I go to. He didn't do any damage to my site, but it looks like he could have if he wanted to. The only way I could have seen him getting in was through SQL injection, but I don't know enough about it to do anything.

Everyone thanks Xpargas for telling me to give the site back. I thought it was just another 7s knock off filled with 7s rejects who assemble at sites like this, but apparently not.

Yeah. Enjoy my cpanel and then proceed to upload 10 shells into random portions of my file system.


As of now I believe the hack was done via a poor hosting setup. If it was in IPB, there would be more sites down. None of my other sites on this server have any dynamic (php) backend, so it cannot be them. Unless you delete the records from the logs, (which I would have known) you never got access to my ACP. You just were changing random values in the sql database so you gave the appearance of changing user's usernames.
