Microsoft fixed the last way to mod halo 3 for free, as they now charge for the 360 data migration kit. But the latest update opens a new possibility, as now usb memory sticks can be used for game data storage. This tut uses Xtaf Usb explorer by slasherking. I personally inspired and tested this tool, which was an extension of his existing fatx driver. All coding was done by him. Here`s what you will need:
Xbox 360 with latest Xbox Live update
Halo 3 or Halo 3:ODST Disc 2
Computer with available USB Port
Windows XP, Vista Or Windows 7
USB flash drive with at least 1gb of memory
USB Xtaf Explorer By Slasherking
First you will need to update your xbox 360, simply connect it to xbox live and you will be prompted to update.
After a semi lengthy update, plug in your Usb device and go to memory. Click on your Usb device, then select configure. Your 360 will format your memory stick. (If you have data it might be erased, so I suggest backing it up first.)
After this is completed, go to your hdd and copy the data to your Usb. Then unplug the usb after this is completed.
Plug the Usb into your computer. Start Xtaf Usb explorer. Click on the File menu and click ??Open Device?.
Click on the directories that appear until one with a long name appears, this is the file you are looking for. For this tutorial I suggest one file at a time on the Usb until you get used to how the program works.
Once you get to the file you want, click extract. A window will popup asking you where to save it and what to call it. Leave the name the same and choose wherever you want to save it.
To inject the file back, click inject and direct the program to the file you wish to inject.
When you are all finished, plug the Usb into the 360 and copy the data to your hdd. Your done!
Step 2: Identify Map, Then Swap Items
This step is easier then the last one. Open up Forge 2.6. Then just open the map you dragged in step 1 to your desktop. Then click on the group in the sidebar where your item is held. I am going to swap the wraith on this map for a master chief clone.
Then select the group of the item you will swap it with. In this case thats the bipd group. Then click the item in the group you want, and click save.
Then Rehash and Resign.
