In preparation for the release of IPB 3.1, I will be removing and installing some additional modifications. A current mod I have installed now is called CommunitySEO, it was suppose to help my placement on Google, but has failed miserably. It does however have some key features that I like, such as similar topics, trackbacks, social networking links, and sitemap generation. Social networking is now included in IPB 3.1, and there are mods for similar topics and sitemaps generation, which removes the need for CSEO. CommunitySEO is IonCube encoded (like encrypting programs) which kinda leads to a longer load time, but we won't know until its gone. The bad part about switching apps that contain your URLs is that Google panics and thus your URLs have to re-indexed. I lost my page rank of 3 for some reason at Google, so nothing matters anymore.

Here is quick run down on the announced features of IPB 3.1
    • Enhanced Status Updates
    • Search Engine Optimization
      • Appropriate header codes for errors
      • The infamous "icon" alt attribute
      • Cash in on social networking
      • Removal of a setting
      • Centralize SEO-related settings
      • Addition of "canonical" meta tag for board index
      • More improvements for the board index
      • De-emphasize unimportant pages
    • New Hook Types (Less file editing for mods now)
    • Status Updates linked with Twitter/Facebook (If linked)
    • Notifications (Instead of being spammed via email, there is now a generalized area to view all notifications pertaining to the board)
    • Application Enhancements (More power to the applications, lessening the possibility of file edits)
    • Twitter Integration (Now be able to link your twitter account with your account)
    • Skin Upgrader (When a new version of a skin comes out, its a difficult progress to update it, now this does it for you)
    • Built in Ad Management
      • Header and Footer Ads
      • Forum View & Topic View
      • Board Index Side Bar
      • Group Setting
      • Ad Placement
      • Embed in applications
    • Soft Delete
    • Share links (Social Networking links basically)
    • Improved Facebook Integration
    • Centralized License Center (Helps organize products you've purchased)
    • Profile Customization (Design your profile page)
    • Topic Preview (You can view a preview of a topic prior to opening it)
At first glance you can tell their trying to appeal to the social networking side of things, and adding a variety of features that vBulletin has. All is good and it looks to be a great addition to the product.

Downtime is planned for this Sunday as I...

    -Uninstall CommunitySEO
    -Install Similar Topics
    -Install Sitemap Generator
    -Update Affiliate System

No, this update will not all of a sudden bring 10000s of users to the site, but once the site is updated again we can continue to find new ways to attract members back.

    Thanks,
    Peaches

Sounds good, but how much down time should we expect?

Really like the idea of social networking compatibility.

5 minutes. All changes are *almost* done on my local install of iBotModz, just have to re-copy the file changes over and run the mysql difference thingy then its all good.
